Yeah thats about right. I'm not sure why anyone would waste their time on Area 51 when so many AAA titles are being released this year. You probably can't go wrong with anything else on that list. I can easily recommend COD4 though since it's the only one of those games I actually own. I'm playing multiplayer right now and it may be one of the best MP games I have ever played.

Syberia is much better.

I don't know why people liked The Longest Journey so much. It was just a mediocre adventure game. It's probably because they haven't played other adventure games. Try these as well:

Syberia is definitely better than Dreamfall. However, The Longest Journey is far superior to Syberia, not only in my opinion but critical opinionas well. Also, youshouldn't assume that people who think so probably haven't played other adventure games because I have played a good majority of the games on your short list.

The Jericho review has been up for a few days.

As for Hellgate and Tabula Rasa, those reviews won't be up for a little while. Gamespot doesn't post MMO reviews until a week or 2 after release (or more).Since the gameplay experience hingesentirely on playing with a massive number of peoplean early review could turn out to be completely inaccurate. Waiting until the general public has a chance to jump on the servers just makes sense.

As far as presentation goes, HL2 is better. Its just a rollercoaster ride from start to finish with fantastic pacing and visuals. It also has the gravity gun which was totally sweet.

As far as gameplay goes, HL1 is better in my opinion. There are just more unique elements to the gameplay, giant monsters, and far better AI (the AI in HL2 is practically brain dead). That last part is definitely whats most important to me in a run and gun shooter like Half-Life.

In the end gameplay is what is most important to me so HL1 gets my vote.

I used to subscribe to PC Gamer, but it's so goddamn full of ads and old information now it's pointless.Teuvan

I would have to agree with this actually. They claim on the cover they have exclusives but I've always seen the same info here on Gamespot or elsewhere before PC Gamer shows it to me. It's quite sad really, they need to become an online only media outlet. There aren't really enough quality sitesthat focus solely on PC Games.

Anyway, if I had to pick between the 2 magazines I would still go with PC Gamer. GFW is like a leaflet.

First off, from these screens the graphics are definitely not on par with Gears of War. But this is still very preliminary so things could change. And there is no way this game will take as long as the first game, they already have a lot of existing code to work with for the new one.

Also, why should they fix the problems with the original before making a new one? There is only so much you can do to fix a game that already exists. Making a new game is THE way to makesignificant changes to the original formula. A

WCIII definitely doesn't suck. I would say both games are excellent, although Iprefer WCIII personally. If shaders are going to hold you back in CoH, then the lower price and system requirements of WCIII would seem to make this a no brainer for you.

You guys are acting as if 2004 was a long time ago, none the less Far Cry is still a great game even today.  It is possible for a game to be great without you liking it personally.  For instance, I'm not too big a fan of the Battlefield series, not sure why, but I none the less am able to understand why it is generally considered to be a great series.
