With books, all the time. Whatever media you consume will be reflected in your work.
For example, when writing my dystopian cyberpunk novel 43DH5, I read "We" (by Yevgeny Zamyatin) probably about four times. You see a lot of We in my writing, and it makes it a better book because We is so strong.
yeah I know but where gonna do a an episode or two a month and span it to 12-15 episodes.
Errrrr.....srry but what does bonfide mean?
KamikazeDonut
Bonafide = (according to dictionary.com) authentic; true
EDIT: No problem, dude. :P
While I'm at it, context would be great.
I started a book in eight grade entitled "Sixth Side of the World." which was about a cubed world split into six sides, one with a different time period (only one of which were aware that the world was indeed a cube). Let me just say right now that it was much too complex for me at the time, though I wrote the short story above as a chapter in a modified form. The first draft of that document I posted was nearly identical to the one I wrote in eighth grade.
I found it, and said to myself, "Self, that's much too good to go to waste." So you see my rejuvination efforts.
Okay, it's been revised. Click the original link
Changelog: Tons of minor details added, better formatting, a few words here or there to make it a bit more understandable, and a new ending (I basically removed that last terrible paragraph).
Enjoy; comments make me squeal like a cute little piggy.
I'm going to brainfart for a bit and hope it helps you.
The essay was well writ, and you backed up your points well.
I agreed with all of your evidence, but not your main claim. I felt it was kind of a jump from your points to your conclusion, unlike your last essay. The ideas and concepts kind of came out of nowhere.
I also answered "No, not really" to your hook. I rarely have a teacher who talks down to me, though I know some in the building do. It really depends, as you said, on the quality of the teacher, which I'd say it fairly high in my area.
I agree that "talking down" to students is a bad way to run a class a lot of the time, though it has been used effectively to get students to do a good job, no matter how unpopular is.
I'd also blame the stupidity of the students, which I have said earlier is at its all time peak. (Just kidding)
Sounds cool.I liked the trailer; you sounded like a bonafide movie man.
Just remember, those movies take a lot longer than you may ever imagine. They look easy, but they're not. Don't rush into it; take the time to plan everything. ;)
Real life sometimes gets in the way of the work I'm doing. You know, just kind of an emotional brick wall, as you said. That's when to just put down the pen for a bit and just relax.
I've had some little dips that aren't deep enough to be depression, though I have my "down in the dumps" moments, and those often get in the way of writing. But I don 't know if I've ever had any issues with characters involving myself.
All of my main characters have something in common with me, but oiften they become their own person if I work on it hard enough. Then it's not too bad of a problem.
I hope this one sided therapist session with myself helped you in someway. Just remember: everyone has a few barriers to get through.
