@what101: One if my friends paid $1 total for like 5 years of Hulu access. Not sure which seedy website he went on to that kind of deal but it unfortunately just stopped working for him. But he just found another one, so we’ll see how long that lasts lol

@blankfaced: While I agree that capitalism never guarantees ingenuity; (it is meant to incentivize it) Without competition in a capitalist system, there is no way to regulate prices. So the consoles would likely be more expensive. But the games potentially could be cheaper since they could then be funded by a larger player base (this would only apply to exclusives). Just look at what Sony tried to charge for the PS3 when they thought they had no competition. Or Nvidia with their GPUs or Intel with their CPUs for years. And outside of electronics, there is no better example than pharmaceuticals to show what a company will try to charge if it has a unique product that no else makes (whether by patent or lack of knowledge to create the product).

@MigGui: From the wording of the article, it appears that password sharing has been extra high in South America (likely because they are poorer countries as you pointed out). And I’m assuming richer countries are Netflix’s biggest customers, making them weary to lose subscribers in those countries due to more pricing changes. But I agree, I always assumed the simultaneous watching thing was introduced because of password sharing. So it’s odd they are trying a different tactic.

@bdrtfm: Live service and mobile? 🤮 I agree that they have some great shooter mechanics. I’m not saying it has to be a single player RPG lol. Even a FPS shooter with an online co-op campaign would be great. I’m just tired of their constant grinding gameplay structure that is Destiny. They improved on the 2nd by giving more missions and things to do, but in the end, you’re forced to play the same missions over and over. At least disguise it like many open world games do and just change the item you’re fetching and the location you’re doing it at. Got sick of playing the EXACT same missions over and over. But I think they got pretty good sales for those games, so who am I to say they need work. Just hoping this acquisition by Sony will help them to improve further…even if many might already be happy with their recent work.

Well hopefully since Sony owns them now, and makes some amazing single player experiences, maybe they can encourage Bungie to make one soon. I never cared for Destiny but maybe they’ll be wiling to risk a new IP with the new funding or Sony. They’re a great studio and can make some good games, so I guess I’ll just hope Sony doesn’t allow a Destiny 3 lol.

@boodger: I’m not a fan of their exclusivity either. But when it comes to their headset, although it may hold some games back from advancing, their business strategy is to get VR into the hands of as many people as possible. I’m all for further advancing VR and seeing more great games, but no matter how good the tech gets or the games, people are going to continue to think it’s too expensive or no better than 3D movies. So they are betting on VR going mainstream by making it cheap and easy to set up. Before the Quest, the VR market wasn’t expanding much more because potential fans either couldn’t afford it or aren’t willing to try it out themselves. I’m not saying their business strategy will work, but as a PC VR owner myself (Vive Pro), I too want as many people in VR as possible so the market continues to get stronger. I myself was a PS VR owner first and I thought it was so amazing and promising that I built a gaming PC and got my current headset. So maybe a portion of the Quest users will upgrade down the line too!

@id0ntkn0w7: I would join you in pleasuring a garbage disposal before watching a reaction video, and I don’t enjoy sharing my garbage disposals lol

It’s pretty hilarious their basic plan doesn’t even offer HD streams lol. It’s 2022 and they’re their starting member price can’t even support a technology introduced in 1998?! I get it took a while for everybody to upgrade, but surely the vast majority of the population has HD for almost a decade. And I’m pretty sure 4K is the dominant resolution in the states now.
