I cannot wait for this game.GIJames248

Well you better.

I'm up for everyone having this game, but come on man, can we please just get the PS3 version out for those of us with a PS3? Man, having to wait an excess of 6+ months for the 360 version is just vexing. I know Microsoft probably must have opened up their deep coffers to make it so that they came out at the same time each, but seriously, I WANT THIS GAME NOW!!

that's exactly what i'm trying to say. you can't argue that their approach is showing positive returns. many people are now in a situation where if they don't have a PS3 they have to ask themselves 'is it worth it to get for just X, Y, and Z, when all the old exclusives are now multiplat?'.

it's not a complicated equation.

I'd like to see these positives return? Outside of the one spike last months. Even when Microsoft was blowing Sony out of the water, they didn't die.

Sony isn't going anywhere, you'd be foolish to think so.

I dont think anyone is arguing that Sony is going bust, they have just slipped a long long way since the end days of the PS2.

I didn't say that they were going to bust, I said that at this very point, Microsoft still doesn't have 2nd place on the lock, and even after this spike, they still don't have any reason to be boastful. It's one month, remember the days when Microsoft was crushing Sony here in NA and no one thought they would ever get over the hump? String a few months together and then it's time for the warning bells to go off.

i guess you missed the part about Sony being in 3rd, getting beaten in JAPAN by MS lately, and struggling desperately to try to redefine themselves mid-gen. they might believe that, but like with most decisions they've made this gen they're obviously wrong.3picuri3

To quote myself "The only time this generation where Sony's clear lack of quality titles have just made them eat Microsoft's dust, was last month. If two JRPGs could propel the 360 in Japan to level of even almost passing the Wii, then Sony is in for a world of trouble."

Furthermore, what do you call the "NEW XBOX EXPERIENCE"? That IS the epitomy of attempting to redifine who you are mid generation. Using the concepts generated by both Sony and Nintendo. Come on there... this is just too blatant. Their inability to attrack the newcomer, or casual, and Sony beginning to knock on their doorstep is what generated. This isn't a little change, this is billed as a complete overhaul, a brand new change to a service. That is desperation, that IS attempting to redifine yourself.

new ips like Resistence, Uncharted, etc are failing to attract the numbers they want - so the strategy is obviously failing. not that complicated.3picuri3

Kinda like how in a year that had Halo 3, Bioshock, and The Orange Box all exclusive to the 360, the 360 still got outsold world wide by the PS3?

it's not about just losing tekken, its about losing EVERY other major IP that defined sony last gen and the gen before. again, not that complicated.3picuri3

So, Microsoft's strategy is to steal all of Sony's third party IPs, and bring them onto the 360? How was that strategy been working for them? You mean to tell me that the 20 million dollars they forked over to Rockstar for DLC didn't do anything for their sales, and only managed to a meager 1.5~ more sales with a larger install base? Who would have though it.

you can try to spin it, but even the most hardcore of cows are furious over this now. you're definitely in the minority with the view that this isn't a big deal and that sony has a chance to recover this gen.3picuri3

Recover from what? Do tell. I'm a friggin' gamer, not a cow. I couldn't care if Metal Gear Solid 4 went multiplat. As long as I get to play the game, what do I care? Please take FFXIII, maybe with that cash that Sony saved, they could put out another game. Brand loyalty is stupid, I buy something because it's got stuff that I like, the features, whatever you will. I don't buy a console because it has more exclusives, if I did, I would have bought a Wii, and not a PS3. There was once upon a time where I was really pissed with FFXIII going multiplat but I realized, hell I'm still getting the game, so why do I care?

Let the hardcore cows be furious, fanboys are stupid.

this isn't about companies going under, this is about falling from the top to the bottom. going from king to pauper. it's about bad business decisions and a poor console design that didn't take 3rd party concerns in to account. they're reaping what they sow, and them not caring about losing exclusivity just underlines how out of touch they are this gen. 3picuri3

Empires rise and fall, dynasties are created and destroyed, this sort of stuff is nothing new. We've seen this before in this business, Nintendo, but most of 360 fanboys tend to ignoring the thundering wallop that Nintendo is giving both Sony and Microsoft.

Microsoft believes that securing games for multiplat like FFXIII is in the end going to help them win, but perhaps, now that they've begun to reinvent themselves, they realized that this isn't as simply as buying everyone out. Sony is still there, they will most likely have outsold Microsoft once again in terms of worldwide sales this year, and to what? More money dished out by Microsoft that has yet to prove any dividends.

The reality is that, Microsoft's way of cornering the market, as in buying everything, is not working here.

think about this logically :P

Sony now has only 2 critical long-standing IPs that consumers strongly identify with. GT, and MGS.

your logic goes both ways, as individuals bits leaving the hive they aren't that big of a deal. when you look at the big picture though the PS3 is now a console for IP fanboys. people that REALLY love the brand or LOVE one of 2 key IPs from the last gen.

in terms of branding, and marketing, this is a nightmare.

the only time a brand is reworked or redefined is when it is struggling. this is a fact. so sony is doing the best with what it has, but honestly you can't argue it's even close to being good enough to restore faith in those that have moved on from the brand.. like me.

i love LBP, but i hate MGS and GT. so why the hell would i buy a PS3 when i can get all the other titles i loved on PS1/PS2 on 360? see how that worked?

3picuri3

I guess you didn't read the part where I said that Sony believes they can make up their loses with their own developers? Instead of forking over ludacris amounts of money to developers in order to keep a few games which in the grand scope of things did not hurt Sony one bit, and did not help Microsoft one bit (Devil May Cry 4, Grand Theft Auto), the decided to suppliment that with their own titles.

It still amazes me how people think losing Tekken 6 will hurt Sony and their fanbase. Time to take the fanboy goggles off, because every single IP loss that Sony has suffered has not once hurt Sony in terms of sales. The only time this generation where Sony's clear lack of quality titles have just made them eat Microsoft's dust, was last month. If two JRPGs could propel the 360 in Japan to level of even almost passing the Wii, then Sony is in for a world of trouble.

I'm not trying to support Sony, or put down Microsoft, but really, they aren't going anywhere, these games coming out, aren't going to do anything, and they will still keep going.

Think about this logically...

Would Tekken 6 help to move consoles? Would Silent Hill: Homecoming help to move consoles? In reality these going multiplat wouldn't hurt Sony.

However, Resident Evil has never really been a Sony "game" when compared to something like Devil May Cry 4. RE5 will move consoles, on either side, but still if anyone could have secured this one, it would have been a massive boost. The same goes with FFXIII.

Maybe Sony believes that as long as those games still keep coming on to their system, they can suppliment the lack of exclusives by having their own 1st and 2nd party developers make their games.

Quite possibly the Game of the Century!!! Graphics are insane!!! Everything seems insane!!!darkhadou

I agree on the graphics part. Devil May Cry 4 has, in my opinion, some of the best graphics this generation, possibly a top 3 game in terms of graphics.

Those trailers really, really look good in terms of graphics. Just look at the way Chris's muscles buldge. :P

Let's hope Resident Evil 5 is Capcom's break out game for this generation, seeing as many of their current gen games (Lost Planet, Devil May Cry 4, Dead Rising) have been good, but nothing on the level of what they did last generation.

Personally, after hearing how the guys at Giantbomb said that the new controls just make the game work with all the TPS advancements that have been made (Gears of War, Uncharted), and not feel old and clumsy.

Personally one of my biggest quips after going back to play Resident Evil 4 was how clumsy the controls felt, like I had to fight against them, hearing that they've patched that up, is good news.

Doesn't look like this is the Suda & Mikami game that everyone is looking forward to, but still looks like the Wii is getting a good game!

All of this sounds like... oh my god?!?!

I can only hope that at least half of those things are in the next Mass Effect, I absolutely loved the first one, and to be honest I'd be disappointed if EA didn't take this multiplat, I can't believe what I was missing out when I got the PC version.

That being said, the reason I found Mass Effect so frickin' enjoyable, was because I didn't go all out like I did in other RPG games. Hell I only played it for about 21 hours, including the Bringing Down the Sky DLC, so I did some exploration and side missions, but not a lot.

Looking forward to Mass Effect 2!
