A lot of people are complaining on here about making stories and gameplay better instead of focusing on graphics. Nothing in this article is written on gameplay; everything shown is mostly tech demonstrations. It's really up to the developer on how effective they want the gameplay and story to develop. I'm not a graphics whore by any means but it certainly doesn't hurt to have much better technologies to showcase your material. All of this is just a demonstration of what's capable with the new Kepler GPU's and really doesn't showcase actuall gameplay.
I really think Nvidia is leaps and bounds ahead of AMD especially with their recent technology exclusives. Rumor is that the new consoles are going to be running AMD GPU's and Nvidia is really trying to advance PC gaming. The new consoles may lack a lot of these features if they stick with AMD. I love gaming on my PC and I will have to wait and see what the specs for the new consoles will be. In the meantime I can't wait for this one as well:
If we're not talking about new tech that improves overall hardware performance then we're talking about gimicks or "experiences". I'm pretty sure that's what the article was referring to. I'm not knocking this guys intelligence or originality by any means but quite the contrary. Remember they do run a business; Wii profits were very lucrative and something similar would be very profitable.
What I got out of this article was the word 'experience' is a euphemism for 'casual'. Yes Nintendo made tons of money producing the Wii but once all the hoopla was over nothing else came out of it. If the future of next gen is to produce a quick selling gimick then count me out.
