About 5 minutes after the firestorm hit the internet, Sony cme out and confirmed again they would not require a internet connection and play used games.
I lol'd for 10 minutes. If Japan realizes how jacked up this is, then you know the MS clowns are completely drunk on power.
@ramey2049 Not other ISP's but this is the answer to alot of issues.
1. Piracy
2. Who and what are playing and paying for games
3. Account hacking
It's the trifecta. The idea is that everyone is connected to the internet in some way, through cell, through home internet, DSL/Cable/FiOS.
Alo MS has done strong arming like this in the past. Te first Xbox, Live was only for broadband only. But it failed against the PS2 (which is still selling for gods sake).
Want to hear someting even better? MS plans to kill support for the 360 REALLY soon after the new Xbox is launched. I wouldnt'be surprised if they killed it within a year.
Anyone else getting a PS3 vibe from this? Sony was at the top of their game and thought they could do whatever they want. Now look at em. Japans whole economy collapsed after they announced the PS3 was $600.00
@mtait01 Yes they would. It is still a product they can sell, including games. Even though they make MORE of a profit with used games, they will still make a profit and benefit from selling the console.
The saddest part about this whole thing is we the consumer would not put it past Microsoft to pull off this kind of measure. Though it's stupid. Its like requiring your PC to be online in order to work.
