@beazermyst @durpdurp1234 @dannyodwyer @soullessseyes @bldgirsh No, I'm asking for actual journalism and news reporting, as opposed to unboxing videos and hype articles. "10 reasons you should be excited for Destiny" is not reporting or journalism, it's sensationalism and click-baiting. More than that, it's taking advantage of readers.
@crunchb3rry @durpdurp1234 @dannyodwyer @bldgirsh That's another thing. What are they doing unboxing videos for? What purpose does that serve? Aside from being free advertising for the game, I mean.
@dannyodwyer @soullessseyes @bldgirsh Speaking of being responsible...can we stop with wall-to-wall hypetrain coverage of these games now? Can we maybe stop telling people why they should be excited for games, and start warning people to be skeptical?
@Kevin-V @durpdurp1234 Good point about Diablo. I've enjoyed Destiny so far, but I'm already being put off by the lack of story. And what story there is has been criminal unimaginative.
@dannyodwyer @durpdurp1234 @bldgirsh Fair enough. I guess some people probably thought it was shady, but I suspected it was just the nature of online-only games.
@Gbullet now if only sites like this one would stop serving as advertising departments for publishers, then maybe these hype trains would slow down a bit.
@dannyodwyer @bldgirsh There was an embargo in the sense that they didn't give review copies until release day. But I guess that's probably typical of MMOs, no?
