As awesome as Galaxy was, Fire Emblem: Radinat Dawn was my personal GOTY in '07.

I like it.

It's a required taste, though, so it's not for everyone.

Everyone here's about as casual as you are--and anyway, don't start the stupid debate with your "...lose hope in humanity" because every forum has a cesspool--It's true for GameSpot and GameFAQS.

Well, first off, read Section 1.3 in the OP. Of course one can do well with any character in a casual setting, since skill levels are drastically different. Online is generally impossible to use for skill ratings, though, due to factors like items and crazy stages (which, regardless of how you like to play, do skew results when dealing with skill). And you'd be serious about tiers as well if you were playing in money matches.

I agree that one of the strenghts of the game is catering to many play styles, though you'll find that 99% of competitive players are perfectly capable of dealing with other playstyles. Just because we play one way doesn't mean we don't understand other views. Calling any of us "archaic fanatics" is far too strong. We enjoy what we do, and rarely, if ever, will a competitive player flame a casual player due merely to their playing style.

I did read that section. And yes, I'm perfectly aware that sometimes skill can be overpowered by factors of luck, which is unfortunate--no arguing there.

I'm not accusing you guys of anything, nor am I implying you'd question another's preference (I've stated this like, three times, but...well, just read any of my prior posts).

Wow, most of my favorites aren't considered "good." Them being Link, Yoshi, Samus, Jigglypuff, and Lucas.

I find it funny how they're so serious about tiers...but I don't agree. I play online with the aforementioned characters and beat plenty of great players (when lag is tolerable). But, I guess if this is what they find fun, then by all means, let 'em revel in their "knowledge."

I'm glad I can play the game in a multitude of ways, though--something some of you can't seem to cope with.

I LOVE playing 1v1, stock, no items, FD. However, I also LOVE playing with certain items, likes bumpers, soccer balls, all bombs--this game is amazing in allowing you freedom in correlation with your play style.

Some of you sound like archaic fanatics.

Lol Casual Elitist.

Cute, but no.

how so considering you act as if those who play tourneys are crazy people :?

i'm surprised no ones realized already that this thread was created with the whole purpose of riling up gamespoters >__>

No, no, no.

I understand it's the internet and you can't hear how someone means the words they type in, but I'm essentially saying we're supposed to have fun our own way--nothing I said up there was with any malice or that "I guess..." attitude (speaking of the "knowledge" part).

The "Some of you sound like archaic fanatics." part was meant for anyone who sees things in a one-sided perspective. Those who took offense read it wrong because it wasn't meant as an insult, more a reference--you know, to archaic times...

Calling them archaic fanatics for choosing not to put items on?

Lol Casual Elitist in denial.

_Raich_

That was aimed at everyone.

Do you know what archaic means? I used it in the sense that everyone condemns everyone else for a different view point. I'm playing devil's advocate, son. You jumped gun and victimized yourself.
