@hazuki:

There are many games (and I mean MANY) that require an internet connection in order to play on both Android and iOS. There is little backlash against these games, and most people don't even notice it. The only reason this has so much backlash is due to it being advertised.

Do you really think that a hacked version of Super Mario Run is going to end up on the iOS store any time soon?
No...no it won't.

Sleeping Dogs has an 81% on Metacritic. It seems that not many journalists found it boring at all. Also, for your claim about sexism...just so you know the game DOES take place in Hong Kong (and its sovereign state China) are not known for their liberal views on sex.

There are lots of games that don't allow you to choose a gender. If you only want to play a game where you choose your characters sex you will be missing out on many fun and unique games that are available.

Also, you read A article and believe that to be the absolute truth? I, honestly, haven't played the game, but I know better than to simply trust one opinionated source instead of reading other reviews or, I don't know, playing the game essentially for free?

Lol, and, you know what, in the end that is what is important.

Even if it takes a while to download, install, has a higher resolution, lower resolution, etc. If you enjoy the games you are getting your moneys worth.

Huh...
Well maybe their is discrepancy in hardware!
If you have the Xbox One elite edition you will likely experience faster install speeds. Also, if you are using an external.

You could also have a router that works best with the PS4 (especially if you have the slim).

I don't know! It could be anything. It just goes to show that technology isn't as simple as "this is better than that period". It depends on the whole set up.

You don't own an Xbox One do you?
The Xbox One has that same feature. You can play a portion of the game before it completes the install.

Also, you are only taking into account full games without patches. When downloading updates/patches on a PS4 the PS4 checks every update file to ensure their aren't any duplicates. This can take an extremely long time, especially with bigger games. This is why you see the "preparing to download" message. I've timed it, and the "preparing to download" screen can take up to 15-20 minutes for a game like Destiny (with all the expansions) before it even begins downloading.

And isn't that exactly what they did?
They changed management, stopped bundling Kinect with consoles, provided "backwards compatibility" for their console, vastly improved their OS, and have generally listened to consumers about their complaints and addressed those issues. They even unlocked the GPU cap on the Xbox One that was reserved for Kinect.

I don't understand why you've held onto this for three years. Chances are, you didn't buy the Xbox One at launch anyway. If you did, and you disagreed with their processes and attitude, then you have no one to blame but yourself. If you don't like the way a company is run then don't support the company. It isn't a monopoly, you have other places you can go.

I'm not sure where you are coming from. My PS4 downloads and updates MUCH slower than my Xbox One. ESPECIALLY with updates. "Preparing to download" is the bane of my existence.

Those install speeds though? Wicked fast on the PS4.

The reason for these consoles is nostalgia. To play a game exactly as it was remembered. They could do a high definition remake of Super Mario Bros, but that would defeat the purpose. The reason this system looks like an NES and plays like an NES is so you can remember what it was like to have an NES. I believe all these games are available on the Virtual Console for Wii U too, so if you don't want an NES classic then just purchase the NES games there.

Those Atari and Sega Genesis consoles really aren't as quality as this, and they, also, don't have the same amount of brand recognition as Nintendo does. I'm sure that after a couple months this will no longer be flying of the shelves, but it will be selling much better than the Sega Genesis or Atari systems that complement it.

Eh...I think that what the Xbox One does isn't TRUE backwards compatibility. But I do think that it is backwards compatible. It just isn't as simple as "stick the disc in and it works".

Using a simplified definition of backwards compatibility the Xbox One fits the bill, but when you break it down to the technical line it starts to blur significantly.

Still, it is a great service. I'm just happy it is free. Hopefully they just stick the hardware in the system next time (like they are rumoring to do with the Scorpio). It will always be the truest backwards compatibility this way.

Well that is fine. Feel free to come up with whatever makes you feel better about your system of choice.

I prefer Microsofts "backwards compatibility" because I don't have to pay for it (unlike PSNow and PS2 Classics).

The fact of the matter is that I can't put old software in a PS4 and make it work. I can do that to the Xbox One. Is the definition over-simplified? Certainly. Does that make it redefined? No, not really.
