Hey, quick question:

I'm really intrigued about the new Castlevania game thats coming out soon. For preparation, i thought this would be the perfect oppertunity for me to finally buy and play Symphony of the Night....i still can't believe i've never played it yet (i know, don't hurt me lol).

Anyways, my question is this: can i play SotN without playing any of the other Castlevania games (in terms of understanding the story and such)? Is the game "stand alone"?

Thanks!

Yeah, im not a trophy whore so idk if my challenges are *that* hard lol. However, because i REALLY loved RDR, i got the Red Dead Redemption platinum. By far, the most i've ever spent on getting a trophy in my life was the "How the West was Won" trophy. Took my THE. WHOLE. DAMN. DAY. uggh ;)

A warm tear ran down his face; it was comforting in an ironic yet touching sense.

"Why?" he questioned, "Why must my hands be so small?"

"Is that why people hate to play with me?" the Haze man questioned further.

He then humbly realized that he must accept his nature--that his game sucked and that his hands were, indeed, small. He realized that exacting revenge upon successful PS characters is childish and fruitless.

With this new sentiment, he opened his laptop which showed a timer counting down. 47 seconds left. The timer's purpose was to give Haze man the knowledge of when his nuke would go off. As it turns out, his nuke was heading towards an Alaskan coastline in an attempt to nuke the PS hero known as Solid Snake.

With 14 seconds left on the timer, Haze man canceled the nuke. Haze man realized his purpose now. That, one day, one day, people would realize that first person shooters get dull, cliche, and boring. When that day comes, Haze man will be there to comfort Colonel Sheppard from Call of Duty's inevitable loss in popularity--to make sure he doesn't commit suicide from post-stardom.

Meanwhile, back in Alaska.

Snake was on the ground. Smoke and debris was everywhere. His retirement shack, which was once decrepit, was now in a worse state; it was gone, collapse, and burning.

Snake could not understand why his friend Nathan Drake would nuke the place. "Why dammit?!" Snake whispered to himself.

Just then, Snake found the body of his friend Nathan Drake. Miraculously, Nathan drake was fine and healthy. "But how can this be?" Snake wondered to himself.

Snake ran to his companion's side and asked him if he was okay.

Nathan Drake turned to Snake and said, "Sorry for my dramatic entrance, 'ol pal"

With Snake assured as to the safety of his friend, he immediately asked, "What happened!??"

Nathan took a deep breath and said, "Well.."

He begin to describe his miraculous tale: "Well, while I was flying to your lovely retirement shack, I got an urgent call on my cell phone from somewhere in Los Angeles asking for help. I landed my plane in LA and went to this crazy, sketchy neighborhood via my cell phone's ability to track calls. It entered the apartment to only been knocked unconscious. When I awoke, I saw Haze man and he strapped a nuke to my chest. Haze man was trying to kill you Snake; he even sent out a S.V.E.R soldier to kill you. He said that if I don't blow Snake up with the Nuke strapped to my chest, then he would kill Elena and my brother, Crash Bandicoot. Haze man then said that if the nuke strapped to my body didn't kill Snake, he would send a second nuke to Alaska via his laptop. Anyways, when got back on my plane, I invited Rico to coach me through this horrible situation and help me regulate my emotions. When I arrived at your house, the nuke automatically went off. I was on the brink of dying when, luckily, the rations you prepared for dinner flew through the air and hit me—2 rations! My health was restored to 100%!. And that's what happened Snake.

Snake looked at Drake with disbelief. "Wow," Snake garbled, "You and me are some lucky guys!"

They laughed and slapped each others' back.

"Now," Snake said, "time to take Haze man down!!"

"No," Nathan responded, "I believe Haze man had a change of heart because you are still alive, which means he averted his laptop's nuke. Besides, Haze man was just a pawn. To end this onslaught and destruction and to finally bring justice, you and me need to confront and get rid of the man who orchestrated all of this—Haze man's boss.

Snake looked at Nathan and said, "And who might that be?"

Nathan slowly looked at Snake with a clear sense of concern strewn across his face. With distress, Nathan said, "The man behind 'Operation: Kill Snake' is no other than…"

Author Side Note:
Hey guys. Thanks for believing in my topic. You guys are awesome. However, can I suggest something?
I don't know how you guys feel about this but I personally find that the story started heavily going into the realm of "illogical" which was my biggest concern. People are crazily introduced left and right and dying left and right and stuff. As an effect, there is no, imho, sense of progression or interest. That's why my post is sooo long, it tried to reintroduce a plot or something. I don't know, perhaps I sound like a Scrooge; if so, that is not my intension.

Well, either way, thanks for all the contributions so far. You guys rock! Keep it up! Let's Begin Chapter 2 now shall we ;)

Thanks,

Snake began to run away from his beloved, yet decrepit shack. This event had affirmed for him that, indeed, "war had changed"

Snake then began contemplating why such an impromptu attack was formulated upon him.

Snake's ran slowed to a jog. Then, eventually, he stopped. Snake stood there for a moment as if he was deep in thought—contemplating the best course of action.

He then turned around, toward his shack. His stop hastened to a jog. Eventually, he was running toward his abode.

He kicked his door open and threw in a stun grenade. Once, the offensive instrument had exploded, he entered his shack.

He took his knife out in a brisk motion. He postioned himself behind the MAG player and grasped his head. He thrust this head toward his chest, which, in effect, exposed the man's neck. He swiftly held the knife to the man's neck and said, "Speak!"

"Who sent you!" his course voice managed to garble out.

No response.

Snake began to put additional pressure of the knife upon the man's neck; the knife was at the verge of slicing its way into the skin of the man's neck.

"Speak!"

The man personally accepted his defeat. A tear began to stream down his cheek. "Okay," he said, "Okay, I'll tell you, but please don't hurt me I have a family"

"I….I…was sent by someone you know……I was sent by…."

Ok here's the game:

Since i am the TC, i will set up an initial scene in a "novel-like format"--a nice short paragraph (well, since, im the first post, it was a little longer than expected). Then, the poster after me writes the next "paragraph" or "line" of the novel. Keep the story flowing, funny and awesome.

Essentially, Every poster will ad a response to the previous poster's message--in the end, producing a "novel" of sorts.

A subsequent Poster can, ***if it logically makes sense***, add a character, change the scene, change the location, etc...

Characters and scenes and locations can come from any PS3 game, or any video game in general.

EDIT: In order to avoid multiple responses to the same previous post (thus creating branching stories), before you respond, first post a message saying "I'll take it from here". When that is done, your subsequent message/addition to the story will become the recognized part of the story (aka, "canon")

Hope this makes sense...

Ok Here We Go:

The Adventures of PS3 Characters and Friends
A Novel
By the Gamespot PS3 Board

Chapter 1:

"I'm too Old for this," he said in his course voice that echoed the life of perseverance at a time of when war was worth fighting for—when war hadn't been subject to change. He was a legendary hero who defined three generations of Playstation history. However, Solid Snake, as he came to be known, had presumed that he had arrived at his sunset years. However, little did Snake know, that, in the next moments of his life, he would be thrust out of retirement to face his greatest adventure—that his self-proclaimed "epilogue" would become his paramount chapter.

He was waiting for a relatively new friend to arrive at his retirement shack situated on the barren lands of the Alaskan coastline. He assumed that the night would entail nothing more than a simple dinner.

"What was his name again," he murmured to himself, "Nathan Lake? Gary Drake?" Senility was apparent. "Nathan Drake!" he finally recalled as he was placing frozen rations upon his dinner table. "Helluva guy, although somewhat cocky," he said.

He laughed to himself, "Oh, I remember when I was his age; the arrogance of youth!"

He then heard a rapping and a tapping at his door.

Knock! Knock! Knock…

It couldn't have been Nathan, as he called moments ago and said he would arrive in an hour or so.

"Then," Snake wondered to himself, "who could it be?"
