I still think it's a bit too early, especially for all the judgement on the Wii U. However, I agree. Nintendo's press conference at E3 last year was abysmal at best. I just hope that if they really believe in this next system, they should show it off to the max at the next convention. I believe the Next X-Box and Playstation will be formidable systems, but only time can truly tell guys. All this early speculation is interesting to read, but you can't really go off of it.
@cube-gage the creators have always based GTA games on a foreigner who has a crazy over the top US experience. They said so themselves. The only time they did a city outside of a mock version of the USA was in GTA2 (London or something like it), but the very first GTA game had 3 cities. Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas. This is why they use these places. To be honest, If they pick a different country... it wouldn't be GTA. it just wouldn't.
I love the U.S. Dollar art style on the 'five' logo. Gimme more variety in this GTA than in IV. I want to buy property, rent/sell property, pimp prostitutes, weapons trading, run businesses...
All signs are pointing to an L.A. based environment, but I don't think it's gonna be another Grove Street story with the same characters. R* would probably prefer an entirely new base for the story. It might take place in another decade. I suppose that's possible. Maybe the era shortly after Bugsy Segal dreamt up Las Vegas! That'd be a great time to play in LA. Lot's of stories to be had in that time. I think it's gonna be a more modern time than that tho.
As a Martian, I've discovered that humans are not designed to be satisfied. the concept of "fair" is a fluctuating variable. Therefore, if developers get what they want they will eventually want more. It is my hope, however, that they DO get something, since there is an obvious connection between the quality of games and the quality of a developers working environment. Bleep Bloop Bloop!
