Gamespot's hilarious-- They have this pattern, without fail, nearly every single time, their review score must be at least (and most of the time one) point under IGN's and other site's review scores. It's seriously almost like they're trying to look more legit as long as they keep their score just one point lower. Is it cool to be negative?
I'm not usually the type to criticize reviews based on the score, but in this case I honestly don't consider this an 8/10 title. 8/10 to me means it was a well made game, but nothing truly memorable or exceptional. Halo 5 is both of those. I feel like this game should be considered top-tier with the rest of the award winning titles this year, and so far I'm seeing it being pushed aside, making room for titles such as AC Syndicate. Technically, story-wise, and general playability, that specific game is nothing exceptional. Halo 5 is a special game, one of the rare extremely well-made first person shooters out there-- It's been put in a lower level in this review, not just as a numbered score but as a criticism of first person shooters (and games in general) as a whole.
Apologies if you disagree, but just saying from my own perspective.. This is a truly well made piece of entertainment. Don't drop it down to that level.
Very solid review. Always enjoying reading Shaun's stuff. Probably going to check this Call of Duty out actually, after being disappointed 3 times in the past.
The only reason people got pissed was because the game review contained a little "personal" and "psychological" bias, which in return, led to a lower score.
I can understand the TAD, most tiny bit of frustration for some of the hardcore fans. BUT. But, but, but... That does not excuse how fowl and disgustingly immature the feedback was handled.
I'm a longtime follower of the site and I have to agree, he hit the nail on the head with this one. "Gamers," if I even want to call them that as part of our community, really went low on this situation. Can't we all just relax?
