@apathee If the cut is taken from the retailer, the consumer will still be affected. Do you think the retailer will be happy making less money out of a games? They will just add that cost to the price tag and make up their money. We as consumers will still end up paying for the activation fee.

As as I said, when they hold some truth to them they have their standard "we do not comment on rumors". MS did not categorically denied initially because it was buying itself time. But even if the always online might not be a launch feature as first described, the technology is already built into the machine and MS could turn it on at any moment with a minor update. Who knows Sony might be thinking the same thing.

Interesting that when the rumors hold some thruth to them, Sony (or MS for that matter) says that they do not comment on rumors, but when they are fake, they are quick to jump to discredit them.

Yeah games like MGS4, Uncharted series, Infamous, GOW, The last of Us, etc.. are so artsy and for babies. Nothing great like Kinect sports or the Sesame Street game xbox owners can enjoy using the great peripheral that is Kinect. Poor PS owners and their exclusives.

@TomMcShea you are praising Nintendo for taking a "bold stance" against the press conference when in reality their stance is anything but bold. Nintendo has very little to offer at E3 this year. Their new console is already old news and it is little by little failing in sales and software development. Not only that, but most of the biggest developers and publishers are opting out from Wii U. With all of this, their stance against a press conference in E3 is because they really have very little choice. They probably don't have enough new information or material to justify a large press conference. So why spend thousands of dollars in a press conference when it will be a fail. They rather save themselves a few bucks. That's not bold at all. That's just good ol common sense and a good business sense. If Microsoft, or Sony decided to opt out from a press conference, with all that they have yet to offer and unveil, then I would agree with you that it is a "bold move". In Nintendo's case it is just a logical move.

@Janpieterzun @Adavanter The problem is that when MS spends so much time developing all this apps and thinking of more ways of placing ads and taking more money out of xbox owners, they spend less time thinking and developing games and ways to optimize and improve the console for gaming. Gaming almost becomes just another app in a console that was intended to be a gaming machine.

These are supposed to be rummors, but there are too many sources that are saying the same things. I'm inclined to beleive them (most of them anyways). We have been getting almost daily rummors for the new xbox. MS better announce soon or by the time they actually announce their console, we will know everything about it and made up our minds about whether we like it or not.

@snipekill360 @demayor @vadagar1 and you had to be always on to play a game you "owned". PC is not safe from it either.

With all the negative feedback this is getting (not only on this page but everywhere), if they were planning on an always connected system, they will now probably scrap that idea. But, this being Microsoft, I still think they will implement it in the future. When the console first goes for sale it will no require the connection, but in a couple of years they will release an update that will change that and all those people who bought it will be screwed.
