If they want people to transition faster, they should do a buy back program like Apple does with iphones.. Since PS5 will be backwards compatible, I'd be willing to get a PS5 right away if they give me some money for my old PS4.

@the_kfd_case: I don't disagree with not wanting to discuss politics in games. But most AAA games now a days that have a deep story to tell, will have political commentary in it, don't you think? We are at a place where politics and social views are almost inescapable in most mediums (tv, movies, music) and we tend to view those things favorably or not, depending on whether we agree or disagree with the message. I'm no gaming journalist, but how do you review a game that clearly shows you the social or political views of the developer without feeling some kind of way (positive or negative) about it. In order for someone to give a game (or anything else) a score, you have to compare it to your own preferences no? The only thing I can think of is reporting on measurable things like graphics performance, sound, frame rate, etc. In that regard it is possible to report on those things without putting your own views into it because it either works or it does not. But if you also talk about this story, I don't know how one can say if it's good or bad without comparing it to your own views on society, politics, etc.

@so_hai: It's not about being happy about it or not. But it is inescapable. Anyone that tells you they are unbiased are simply not aware of their bias. Even if one tries to not favor their preferences, then they end up overcompensating by trying favor the opposite just to try to be perceived as unbiased. My point is that we can't escape the baggage we carry, especially in something as subjective as a review. Can anyone write a review about a game (or anything else)that is charged with political commentary without referencing their own political views?

@siarhei: Not trolling. Not making a claim either, again it's a guess based solely on what I read here. it has absolutely no scientific validity whatsoever. I'm also not saying I'm right. I said I'd be willing to bet. I'm cool with being wrong. But I'd be interesting to gather that data. And not just for this game but for games in general, to see how our age changes (or not) our perception or preferences in the games we play.

@siarhei: I'm not making a claim, I'm making a guess. Is not that important 9at least to me) to try and obtain data.

I believe the reason this game is getting mixed reactions from players manly due to generational differences. What I mean is that Kojima is an ageing game developer. When he started making games, he was young and his audience was also young so they were widely received with positive reactions. The problem is that he continues to make games for people of his generation, and in doing so, he alienates the newer generation of gamers.

I would be willing to bet that the majority of the people who think this games seems great, interesting and something they can't wait to get their hands on are between the ages of 35-45. While those who think the game seems uninteresting are younger than that. with some exceptions of course. And there is nothing wrong with any of it, each generation has different likes and preferences when it comes games, movies, etc.

@games2525: I do miss his reviews. But, I don't think his review would have been much different. He is a Kojima fan.

@so_hai: We all play games with the baggage we carry. Same goes for music, movies, etc. We call perceive them using the lenses shaped by our experiences. That does not make her experience right or wrong, it just makes hit hers.

The question is, will they give us a non-lethal way of dispatching enemies? Because if they don't, people will not feel bad as it's either them or you

I've been a fan of Kojima ever since MGS on PS1. What I've learned since then, is that he likes to spread misinformation and deception when promoting his games. What he decides to show during promotion leading up to release is meant to get the player to get a preconceived idea of what the game will be and then the player is surprised when the game is not what they expected.

He did this for MGS2 showing us only portions of Snake and the Tanker and then surprising us with Raiden (an unpleasant surpise though). He did that with MGS3 again making us think we would pay as Snake but then surprising us with Big Boss. With MGS4 he was more direct as there was little room for deception due to the story being a direct sequel of MGS2 but even then he managed surprises with the ending reveal. Lastly with MGS5 he went as far as creating a dummy gaming developing company and showing some bizarre trailer during the Video Game Awards. He then also managed to surprise us by making us think we were controlling Big Boss and pulling another fast one at the end.

I agree with many that what we have seen so far is a little bizarre and to some extent disappointing, but I have hope that this is another of his deceptive promotions and the game will throw us for a loop once is played. I'm still picking it up because I enjoy Kojima's wacky stories and the way he threads them.
