Thanks to this terrible review I was super late to the Days Gone party. I hesitated getting the game early, partly because of this review. Now that's on PS Now, I decided to give it a shot. This review could not be more wrong. Usually I agree on scores or might be off by 1 or 2 points, but this one was completely off. This game is great. I've played upwards of 20 hours and I'm having so much fun. The game has been engaging, interesting but most importantly, fun to play. I'd recommended it to anyone without hesitation.

It is safe to say that Gamespot has lost it's way(not just because of this review). I've been using this site as my go-to for reviews and news since around 2004. I've noticed the dip in quality reviews and the bias coming from some reviewers for some time, but I stuck by them (probably out of habit more so than anything else). But I' getting to the point that I can't trust their reviews and if I can't trust their reviews, they become useless. I'll have to find another trusted site.

I been thinking about what is better, the online pre-order process now or the old brick and mortar way.

Back when the PS3 came out with such a limited number of consoles on release day, I slept outside of my local target for 2 nights waiting in line. There were another 10+ people with me even though the store manager had come out several times to tell us they only had 7 consoles at that store. But people hung around because if a payment method failed for any reason and the person could not pay for it at the moment, the console would go to the next person in line that could pay for it. People would join through the day and night and leave after they found out their chances were slim to none. But at least they knew. They didn't have to wait thinking they were in line to get one just to be surprised when they got to the front and be told they were sold out.

Now with mostly digital sales and pre-orders, it the process is still not better. Sure, people don't have to wait outside of a store for several days, but it is still frustrating to try and get one online. With people waiting in line you knew what your chances were. With online, you have no idea. You could be refreshing a page for hours and still no get one, or be on the online queue thinking you might get one just be allowed into the website when they are all sold out. Maybe this is more frustrating due to the uncertainty.

Thanks to twitter I was able to see that the PS5 pre-orders had gone live and somehow I got lucky at Target. But I can see how it is frustrating to try to get one and not be able to get one due to sites crashing or bots swooping in and taking them from actual gamers. I don't know what the answer is other than SONY and Microsoft making sure there is plenty of inventory when they announce the pre-orders will go live.

Reclaim? Xbox identity is a shooter console. RPG was never their identity. The title should be Xbox is ready to change it's identity from shooter to RPG. But even that would be inaccurate because their focus remain shooters even if they add a couple of RPG's to their library.

@videogameninja: I'll admit that for the first time I've considered getting an xbox due to those news. But they did say exclusivity will be case by case and it will take time for them to develop some exclusive must play game. By then, the console might be cheaper.

If you're not bothering with a written article, I will not watch your video. Come man, stop taking the lazy approach.

@skyhighgam3r: I prefer reading. I look at video for gameplay examples but the review itself I prefer it through text.

@consolehaven: I get that, but that requires the user to put the effort to list and negotiate the price, ship, etc. A trade-in program like Apple's would more because all you'd have to do is show up with your old PS4 and leave with a brand new PS5. Of course that would depend on how much they are willing to give you as trade in value.

@pcps4xb: yes but I mean that SONY should be the one with the trade in program, not Gamestop or any other retailer that give you pennies on the dollar for your games and hardware.

@lucidique: But I would not lose my collection of games because the PS5 is backwards compatible. So in theory I would still have my existing library, plus I'd have access to the new games coming out for PS5

@the_kfd_case: Dude. Lot's to unpack here, it will take me some time. I do want to say that I love having an intelligent, informed and civil conversation. It's rare to have those in a gaming board (or any other online forum actually), so I appreciate your well thought out responses with actual information to support your opinion. We need more of this.
