@snugglebear: I thought you were going to make a pun such as "sneak up to someone and poke them with your "hidden blade""

@Tomcat2007 I'm not saying you should shut up about it. But as you stated, it is your opinion just like the review is their opinion of the game. You are questioning their credibility on the basis of the review of one game. They review hundreds of games per year. If a statistical analysis of every game scored supported your claim, then yes I support the loss of credibility. But giving a low score to one, two or three high profile games means nothing.

I actually would be more worried if they were giving high scores to games that don't deserve it just on the basis of the hype or the being a high profile game. That would have a greater implication.

@sgar1973 Yes GS when I don't agree with your reviews you have lost credibility. How dare you give a game a score that I don't agree with. Don't you know that when reviewing a game you have to go with what the people want you to score it not what you as a reviewer think it deserves....

Next MS announcement: XBOne will not play games at launch, but we plan to have that function later in the future. In the mean time you can use it as a DVR.

@rykeut Surveys are one way to get data, but more reliable data comes from sales figures. They just have to compare the sale figures of digital games vs. the sale figures of physical games and that would give them a better understanding of consumer preferences.

@VarHyid "if it's so easy to change the policies, who will guarantee that one day after they sell enough units they won't just change them back?" <---- Exactly! this is what I also believe will happen. After all, the blog regarding the new policies states that MS Still believes in the always connected digital future. They will continue pushing for it in different ways behind the scenes and when they feel comfortable with sales, they will change their policies back.

This is a great step. However, they already have all the infrastructure to simply change their minds once they have sold enough consoles. As his statement says, they still believe in the always connected future so this is something that they might bring back once they feel comfortable with sales. I don't trust them.

The problem MS now has is that with all the negative attention they have attracted to themselves, even if they have a great show at E3 and focus on games, it might not be enough to bring people back. It's like starting a baseball game where you are already down by 10 runs before the game even begins. Even if you have am amazing game, you still need your opponent to do awful for you to not only even out the game, but to overcome the score and come ahead. I don't think MS can recover from this.

@SuperDutchy I partly agree with you. I dislike GS for the reasons you listed, but I also see that GS does a lot for the new game market. Every time I'm there they are pushing pre-orders of games, every time you call them they try to push a pre-order of a new game. They have several partnerships with developers and publishers that allow GS to offer exclusive bonuses when buying new through GS. So while they are definitely robing the developers when it comes to the second hand market, they are also encouraging the purchase of new games. After all, they are the biggest game retailer, if they don't sell new games, there won't be any to buy back. As a consumer I have learned to appreciate the necesary evil of GS. I used to keep all my games and have a large library of games, but in reality I hardly revisit some games after I have played them to completion. So now I keep only a few games and sell others so that I can continue buying new games that come out.
