@Tiwill44: I see. I just assumed that the amiibo would unlock the DLC that they had developed after the game's release. I didn't realise that the content was built into the launch game and was being locked off until the amiibo launched.
I thought I might pop back onto Gamespot just for this one.
These sort of studies are usually carried out in order to understand how exposure to various content can affect behaviour. They are often carried out by Ma or PhD students out of interest. It isn't due to some political agenda. So relax folks. It is just a bit of amateur research, nothing to get worked up about.
The results are also pretty inconclusive. They highlight a few of the effects that you would expect from most forms of intense media. It isn't anything we didn't already know.
Finally, remember that the study didn't say that "violent video games CAN desensitise players", Gamespot did. The study said it COULD. So if you are going to vent your anger anywhere, it should be towards sensationalist journalism.
@HipHopBeats Nintendo mentioned in their Nintendo Direct, that they are starting to focus more on collaborative efforts with other developers. It is essentially another way to develop new IP. The Wonderful 101 is a good example of this. As is the Shin Megami Tensei/Fire Emblem thing that they announced. It kind of mixes the established and the new.
HD remakes are for people who didn't get to enjoy these games the first time around. Books and films also get re-released every few years. Why should games be any different?
Sometimes I think you boys just look for any excuse to throw your toys out of the pram. Jeez.
@abHS4L88 It would be nice for the developer. But all the marketing in the world isn't going to change the fact that it is only guys like us that are interested in these sort of games lol. I think that that is a good thing though. I feel proud to enjoy the more obscure titles while everybody else enjoy their mainstream rehashes.
