After re-checking the video again, I've come to realize what he was doing.  Maybe I'm wrong, and if I am, I apologize.  But, I've been repeating the same steps he's doing on the video, and came to the conclusion that this fella is only inserting the disc far enough, that it's either not registering in the system, or he's being deliberate.  Meaning, only putting in just enough of the disc so that the system itself doesn't recognize it, but close enough to justify his meaning behind the video..

Not to sound harsh, or anything, but..."Red light"?  I could have sworn that if the PS3 was overheating, that the blue, and green lights would flicker on, and off alternatively.  But, a red light?  My apologies if it was a misunderstanding.  Anyway.  Sony Tech Support would be best suited for problems stemming from the system.

[QUOTE="fridayguy"]

and also if you think about it xbox 360 isnt cheap either. lets compare. ps3 - 600 ( 60 ) xbox 400 with hd dvd player 200 = 600. hmmm how about that

blem16

i agree that the 360 isnt cheap, but with the 360 you have the Choice of getting the hd dvd player or not. If you dont want it, you can just get the system for 400 and not be inclined to pay $200 for the hd dvd player, unlike the PS3 where u Have to pay for the blueray player whether you want it or not 'cause its included. Although the ps3 is a much greater value than the 360, ppl just don't seem to care cause blueray isn't the standard for movies yet.

See...This is the problem with so many people. People fear change, on just about every level. But, as it comes to technology, change is a good thing. But, as a result of said change, things will be costly. A lot of people say "Oh, I don't need this." And/or, "I don't want that." But, contrary to that, others are saying, "I don't mind it." Personally, I see so much potential in the new technology held within the PlayStation 3, when it comes to developing games, or the like. Whereas, others are content with the more...safer console.. Granted, the 360 is a step up from the previous gen, but, anyone would be foolish to pass on the fact that, given enough time, and, the effort put forth by game developers, the newer tecnology may surpass all our expectations. In any case, in the end, it's what the consumer wants. And, regardless on what others think, or feel compelled to say to the contrary, they will stick to what they want. That's basically what it boils down too..

           I own and regularly play my PS2. But I hardly play my PS3 at all. Im not a loyal fan of any system. Ive been playing games since the Atari 2600 and im telling you Sony needs to get there head out of there @sses if they are going to continue in the game industry. Two reasons I say this. With the success of Online first person shooters and MMO rpgs they had better do a hell of alot better with the online aspect of there system. Sony has never really considered Online as a threat and it shows.In the PS3 it almost seems like an afterthought. And the Second reason Is Lackluster games and A lack of original IPs. How many Devil May Crys and Metal Gears are they going to push out until they finally Come up with some new gaming properties. They need more original third party games that aren't port overs from other systems. Call of duty 3 Played and looked better on the Xbox 360. The only reason Im saying any of this is because Sony use to be known for its Quality and I loved their product in the past but Im staring  at my PS3 and I have no desire to turn it on. At least they patched the backward compatibility problem so God of War 2 will look halfway decent.mrb45
See...This is the kind of logic I could never bring myself to understand. On your later part of you post, you put the blame on Sony for the lack of games out on the market, at the moment? Wow...Just wow....I was under the impression that Sony only brought forth the platform in which these aforementioned games would be played on. I never knew they made Devil May, Cry...I thought that was Capcom...I never knew that Sony made Metal Gear, I thought that was Konami.....Just wow....You know, going by that logic, I can understant the frustration. But, in all honoesty, that disappointment is misplaced.

To the poster above my previous post....That's fine.  But, what some of us see as a problem, is why complain about it?  What are we supposed to do?  Fix it for them?  I mean, come on.  You either get the patience to wait for newer things to come for it, or simply return it, and get your money back.  But, it seems as if people enjoy more complaining about things, rather than doing something about it.  If one isn't happy with their product, they can always return it.  It's as simple as that.

Brand loyalty would be considered similar to sports team loyalties.  People lean more towards what they either like, or what they are accustomed too.  Nothing wrong with that.  As was stated earlier, Sony's well known for alot of their products lifespans.  Whether one chooses to believe it or not.  There is nothing wrong with preferring one brand over another.

I still find it rather surprising, and amusing, at the amount of know-it-alls we have here, when it comes to the Cell processor...Considering that nothing out there...at least, out in the market, and up for public grasp, that contains a single Cell processor is even out yet....So, all I see is most people running on numbers that are being chucked out like yesterday's news....
