Its disturbing how there's no PC logo at the end of the video.

I really hope they'll release a PC version at the same time as the others.

Looks like my prayers have not fallen on deaf ears. Wing Commander 1 + 2 are amongst my all-time fave games ever and Chris Roberts is a hero to me.

Whatever the hardware specs are I will do the necessary to play this. Please let there be a good single player campaign ... thats all I ask.

Great one DannyO! Counting down the minutes to Enemy Unknown release.

The original looked like it had a bit of an Anime/manga influence in the graphics style and animation clips. I was hoping they would do the reboot in that style too but guess not.

Oh please Oh please God don't let it suck.

To truly enjoy and appreciate this game you NEED TO:

1) Get your hands dirty with the required fixes and key-remaps if not using controller

2) Love skill-based medieval melee combat.

3) Be brave, enjoy challenges and have patience and persistence.

4) Have an appreciation for "the hardcore" and "underground" aspect of things. (If you like some of the more violent classic Anime movies/series, this is you).

5) Give each level/area a good try on your own using your own devices. Then consult a good walkthrough (I recommend the one from gamefront.com) so that you discover all that there is in each area, cos trust me you will miss a lot of important stuff.

6) Not expect a fantasy novel-like story and rather expect a "picture paints a thousand words" kinda story and appreciate the sheer quality of artwork, animation and details in the game which says a ton more than simple words.

IF and ONLY if you have the above requirements, then please do not be deterred by the negative comments and take the plunge into Dark Souls. It would be tragic if you missed this.

I haven't enjoyed a combat-oriented RPG this much since Ultima Underworld 1 and I'm so glad the developers made the port otherwise I would have definately missed the intense hardcore pleasure this game has to offer. All the graphical and speed issues can be fixed with DSFix and you can play this game perfectly well without a game controller by remapping the keys. Also I'm glad I'm playing the PC version which allows me to make manual quicksaves of the savegame file and reload when I die in really inconveniant spots. Yes I know I will be frowned upon for doing this by some but its saving me a lot of time and not spoiling the experience for me at all.

Absolutely love this game and I hope there will be many more releases by these developers. Respect and admiration to you FromSoftware!

Accolade's "Grand Prix Circuit" was one of the first games I ever played on my 8086 PC with monochrome monitor, 640k ram and 20mb hard drive. Loved it! The only other F1 games I really got into was "Indianapolis 500: The Simulation" and Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix (Microprose). This I'll try the genre again with the new Code Masters F1 2012 after watching this show.

Wicked episode! The Secret of Monkey Island was my first true love in the gaming world. It was also the first game I completed without help. Loved it soooooo much, was so atmospheric and it really transported me to another world that was fun, exciting, funny, challenging and rewarding.

You mentioned pretty much all the great classics of the genre in that precious period .... well done!

I've played about 90% of them and you really got me feeling nostalgic man!

I doubt I'll ever enjoy point-n-click adventures as much as I did back then, but one can always hope.

I thought Deponia might do it after seeing some screenshots but it just doesn't have the 'soul' required to pull me in.

I'm loving the show and hope you mention some of my other fav games in future episodes.

Some of my all-time fav games in other genres from back in the day are:

Wing Commander 1 + 2 (Origin)

Ultima Underworld (Origin)

Space Control 2 (Accolade)

Another World (Delphine)

Civilization (Microprose)

Prince of Persia (Broderbund)

X-Com: Enemy Unknown (Microprose)

Syndicate (Bullfrog)

Gods (Bitmap Brothers)

...

... man come to think of it, there are tons that I loved, but those ones really rocked my world and thrilled till the very end(s).

Kudos and bravo!
