I never played video games as a form of escapism. I did get depressed before in life but never escaped in games. I play games for fun and enjoy it.

(fixed for me)

All females in these JRPGs look like anime characters. LOL. The men look real and the females look like some kind of monster from another world.

Don't have a TV, have a projector. 92 inches. Will buy a 55" HDTV when the new OLED releases or an older model QLED. 92" is nice at first, then you realize, there is such a thing as too big for gaming. Movies, no.

So I notice Playstation haters like to bash good narrative and production values by labeling high rated Sony games as movie game. A movie game is Detroit become human, Beyond 2 Souls, Heavy Rain, Until the Dawn, The Dark Pictures franchise. That term is being used for games crammed with gameplay like Uncharted and GOW. Throwing around terms with no definition is BS so I challenge the haters to define what a movie game. A movie game is on rails throughout, not something you explore in.

I don't think you're a real person. I'm pretty sure you're an AI that was coded to say the most asinine things for the sole purpose of annoying PlayStation fans. That's the only explanation we have for any of this.

"I think this is genius, we need a fresh take on The Last of Us story, i always felt the story kinda sucked and was boring at times"

There's hot takes but then there's this statement which is on a whole other level

What's so great about the TLOU story?

TLOU's story is generally considered to be the best aspect of the game. The sequel created so much controversy because they pretty much shit all over the first game's story and what made that game so memorable.

But to answer your question.... while TLOU had a generic "zombie apocalypse, we must find a cure" plotline, the actual storyline is about Joel's grief and the effects of it. The game connected with so many people because he was a father in anguish still mourning the loss of his daughter decades later and learning to love not only others, but himself, again through Ellie. And while this isn't a super original idea by any stretch of the imagination, the game was brought to life by some of the best writers, animators and voice actors the industry had to offer at the time.

How can they be some of the best writers when all they can come up with is something that isn't a super original idea?

What your saying is that Joel has a good story arc and character development.

Those two components are also makeups of a good story. Of course, we also have to separate story and storytelling. Great stories can be told poorly. Average stories can be told greatly. I believe TLoU is the latter. The story wasn't great, but the storytelling from guiding us through Joel's perspective was more than efficiently told to us to feel for the character, understand his motivations, know why he is doing what he does, and supports the over-arching theme of the story being told. This, all of course, using some of the most generic overplayed tropes in story and storytelling----E.g. Joel changes his mind about Ellie after Ellie "saves" him.

Isn't DirectStorage basically want the PS5 does natively with its custom I/O? It sounds more like PlayStation's design choice being validated.

Nope! Direct Storage is an api for Windows. Sony's IO is nothing new. Nvidia had GPUDirect long before Sony even revealed it but in enterprise space. Even in current state DIrect Storage doesn't feed GPU directly. It's on the roadmap.

So yes, you mean. that sony's choice was correct............

No because it's not a game changer or a replacement for a faster GPU. It's only purpose is to serve as a kind of cache for memory because they didn't have enough memory. And as already explained it's neither proprietary or new that Cerny implied.

But their design choice was correct. So yes. That was what I was referring to.

The tech exists on PC and Xbox Series. It is not a unique feature to Sony.

So you mean yes, that their choice was correct since it's also featured in the Xbox and the pc.
