On xbox.com, my profile only shows my long-ago stolen original Xbox and my recently dead 1st Xbox 360. I got a new Arcade edition and transferred my game licenses but still not showing? What must I do? Call MS and wait forever?

I recently had to replace my original run Xbox 360 from 12/05 and bought an Arcade edition. Bought it about a week ago, but just got to hook it up last night.

Updates and slapping in my old 20GB HDD went well. Seemed quieter than first console, but then I played Call of Duty.

At first, all seemed OK, then the DVD drive really started to rattle around my disk and make sounds that all my other drives have never made. I ejected the disk and found no scratches, but got same result when trying again.

I don't want to have to send in to Microsoft if I don't have to since I JUST got it, but not sure how retailers handle returns/exchanges on products like this. I got it at Toys R Us BTW. Think I can just get an exchange there?

My TV only has 2 HDMI ports. One is definitely for the cable box and the other is currently being used by my upconverting DVD player (soon to be Blu-Ray). Was asking because I'll have to get an HDMI switch to hook the DVD and Xbox up to the one HDMI port.

My original run Xbox 360 (mfg 12/05) didn't come with an HDMI port but it just got hit with the E74 error. I just bought a new Jasper chipset Arcade edition and now have the ability to use HDMI with it instead of the component connection I had with the 1st system.

Will there be a noticeable difference to a non-videophile on a 50" Sony SXRD from 10-12' away?

http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101&cp_id=10110&cs_id=1011001&p_id=2786&seq=1&format=2

This would do the trick?

I've ordered HDMI and camera USB cables from them before and love their products and service.

Is there a way to get all three devices (cable box, upconverting DVD player, Xbox 360) working via HDMI cable into only two HDMI ports on my TV?

Looking to get the Xbox 360 and DVD player hooked into one HDMI input.

I was looking at products on monoprice.com and still not sure what I'd need. Is it a splitter or switcher or something else entirely? Do these products work well or are they a PITA?

I unfortunately need an entire new console though, not just a new HDD.

Last night, I got the E74 error on my original 12/05 Xbox 360. I know I'd have to pay $100+ to have it fixed but obviously looking to just buy a new console for the larger HDD and better chips than the first run 360s had.

My questions are these: What exactly will I lose data-wise if I do so? I've read that the E74 is an AV hardware error (scaler chip?) and the hard drive should be fine. Does this sound correct? Are there any options to try to transfer anything I had on the old drive to the new drive without a functioning 2nd console? I could always try the towel trick to maybe get it working short-term if need be.
