i've never played it but i would agree with Carolyn, and never will play it because I tire of games that:
a) look more slick thanks to next gen but
b) the characters - despite the real look - move around like dorky sprites/cartoons in repeated patterns
c) the levels have nothing but repeated objects (eg wooden box) in a big empty open spaces and
d) everything feels like a its a 'cube with a different texture map'
Games like Half Life series, Crysis, Gears/War, Uncharted, Splinter Cell to name a few do a great job letting you suspend your disbelief in their world.

I'm sure it looks goofy seeing massive metal doink around like Mario zapping you. Let's not even talk about Bay's movies because a flip book made on TP by a 3 yr. old could capture more attention.

Something to consider:
Batman, Superman, Thor etc failed so many times over the years as developers tried hard to capture the essence of the character, but always wound up making the gimmicky. Then, other teams who were NOT trying to capture that developed games (like Prince/Persia, Splinter Cell, Devil May Cry) and in each of these games was some 'thing' done very well (ie combat engne/moves, vertical levels etc).

Eventually the perfect blend like Batman/Arkham where:

a) the developers are experts
b) they pick the appropriate game techniques for the character

So I think that sometimes developers/teams should un-learn all the formulaic crap, look at games like 'Last of Us' and build only what is needed for that character - again like Batman for example.

The game looks great and as far as know xbox one is 720 correct? If so, makes you wonder if 1080 is even necessary because i didn't see any jaggies in this game.

Indie or not, this is very clever twist to the classic Defender. Props to the developers/designers.. you got skillz.

Players , this game is great and will appeal to most of you who have played the previous Batman games. Bigger levels, a training room in the Bat cave, nicely rendered bad guys from the comics, great voice acting, special fx (esp. on pc), more baddies but different purpose, ACTION - you'll have a blast. Hollywood could never capture in over 20 yrs. what this game has in each of its' incarnations. If you feel like every iteration of a game does NOT have to out do its' predecessor you're going to enjoy this installment.

Or maybe gamers, you get the console because you like games, and wait patiently for Ubi to give the game that extra polish they think it needs.

@X_Box_Killer Actually NO. CEO's (like say programmers) like to make something from nothing, or turn a company around then move on to the next. It's their idea of a fun 'challenge'. I'm not saying that's the reason here .. but that's what CEO's like to do.

@Kooken58 @spindie maybe the solution/compromise would not be in tweaking weapons but level design. That way the weapons stay true to life, the game can have one at a disadvantage (just like life) but the terrain/level is design with peaks, valleys, trenches obstacles enough to stop the sniping spree.
