In his defense: I've seen Mike in action and he's a very talented gamer. This isn't some bs excuse, but since most journalists/ critics aren't, I can honestly imagine him seeing enough of a game to rate it in half the time it takes an average critic. He's one of those people who just gets games the moment he picks up the controller, we all know one of these guys; we've been fighting a boss for 3 hours while that mate of yours silently looks at you struggle, then he asks if he can try and beats it the very first try without ever playing the game before. Grmbl...
Gamespot always rates games at least a point lower than the rest of the bunch, unless it's some unknown or niche game they want to take a gamble on. I guess it makes them appear special and less easy to please or something. Or maybe they want to fight the incredible inflation of the scores: in what universe are people mad at an 8? It would be better if they would all do it, even if this means we have to live in a world where DS2 got rated higher than DS3, although you can tell 3 is the better game just by looking at it.
I'm just going for Gladiolus, can't resist a good mullet and a sixpack. And about Noctis being exclusive: I'll bet you they'll come with a Noctis figure outside of the CE anyway, claiming they've has so many requests\complaints. They'll just add an extra set of hands in the CE one and shape his weapon a bit different and tell everyone not to whine about it; what are they to do, let the fans down? Pre orders are in anyway, so what do they care?
I can't believe how negative gamers always are when it comes to new technology. It feels like hearing a bunch of grandmas complaining about some new piece of tech they can't keep up with. Even when it turns out to be an expensive gimmick, that doesn't mean it isn't an immensly awesome experience; the first time I got to demo Eve Valkyrie I could have cried if I wanted, so happy and overwhelmed by the experience I felt.
I get it: it's too expensive for lots of you, but that doesn't make the technology any less cool to own. This comes at a perfect time though, where gamers showed their true colors once again in the 'PS4.5' debate: "if I can't afford or choose not to buy new and improved hardware, no one should be able to get it." VR and PS4.5 don't take anything away from your experience, they add to the experiences of others.
I can't understand that the same people that stand in line at midnight releases of games, buy $400 video cards or watch live streams of Japanse trade shows hoping to catch a glimp of a game they might enjoy, are so anti-VR without even trying it. I also can't believe how most of these people can't think beyond gaming when it comes to VR: ultimately gaming will be 10% of VR, the rest will be virtual traveling, shopping or having first row seats at your favorite concert or sport event. Time will tell us if it's a fad or not, but it'll never take away the incredible feeling wearing VR headsets give us now. Dare to dream...
Al these Chinese companies have a different take on "diversifying the portfolio" than we mostly do. But what the hell do they care? I the end it's all government money made from milking dry 3rd world nations anyway!
