@Scorpion1813 Such as candy bars and individual bottles of water in a 24 pack. Of course,I'm 100% against piracy, hacking, and all that other garbage. That's plain stealing, and devs/publishers lose lot's of money to that. But they should tackle that, not the sale of used games. BTW,when I talk about buying used games,I guess I'm a little different than everyone else. I don't mean the ones you see at GameStop for $5 less than new.In that case,I'd buy new and avoid any kind of scratches and what-not.I'm talking about buying games at places like Disc Replay(a resale shop in my area for all things electronic, from games,to music,to movies,to consoles and players, etc.)where I can save up to 50% on a game if it's old enough(so,not available day one or even week one.).So I guess that's more like your idea of buying and selling directly to other people,as that's what this store does, buys your game(at a much better price than GameStop will give you I can say with certainty.)and sell it on to other gamers. And that's it.They do not have new games alongside used ones. Your example of CoD is an example of a stupid populace being duped by a company that has admitted to flooding the market with what is popular until it isn't anymore in order to make money. I.e.,the Tony Hawk series.

Please. Lot's of people buy them, and that is a chunk of change that doesn't go into the devs' pockets, but there will always be enough people who can't wait for a used copy to show up,they've got to play it day one. If the devs make a good enough game, even used game fans like me will jump on board the day one wagon. For example,I bought Arkham City,Portal 2,Mario Galaxy 2,Mario 3D Land, and MarioKart 7 all brand new because I knew they'd be great. If I were unsure,I'd rent them first,or wait for a cheaper used copy.So really it's all up to the devs to make quality titles.I know it sounds selfish, but it's true in all markets, from groceries to clothing to games,we are the consumers, the producers are providing a service to US,not the other way around. @Scorpion1813 Like SadPSPAddict said, once you buy something,it's yours to sell and share. That goes for cars, teapots, chairs, and games. If the gaming industry is allowed to tamper with our rights to buy/sell used goods, what sort of precedent does that set for any other industry? Why can't a car company make it so a car only works for the initial driver via some code,or system? Why can't Black and Decker sue eBay because people are buying their drills there instead of from a hardware store? Sorry, but I refuse to look at the monthly sales article here on GS showing "X" million copies of a game sold for the month and believe that the devs are so close to slipping into bankruptcy that some used game sales are going to put them under.

Suspension of disbelief. I believe that is real. My bro and I rented Lost Planet 2 and installed it on a friend's PS3 while we babysat his offspring.(Which sucked because it took all of one day to install.)But the next day, after a few missions of relentless surprise knock back attacks and one hit kills,I was more than done. It was one of the worst gaming experiences I've ever had. My brother kept playing on,making gigantic exclamations of rage, fighting through the same level again and again to beat it,and when he did,it wasn't triumphant joy I heard, but and exasperated gasp an angry grunt of,"Finally, that level is OVER." And he tried to convince me that was fun. Nope,I had much more fun taking care of the younglings.I would much prefer to change diapers than to waste a moment with that game. And it's funny, because the article is so true, yet if never fails. How many people simply MUST have the latest CoD or the newest iPad? Every year millions get convinced that what they have isn't good enough, and I sit back and laugh, all the while suspending my disbelief that a gorilla would wear a red tie and run all the way across an island and risk his life for a pile of bananas.

So this whole article is just a guy whining because the 3DS has 2 screens? Get over it man. IF,as you say in the last paragraph, there are plenty of games to have fun with the system, then that's what counts. If you can sit down and have fun with a system, visuals automatically take the back seat. Admittedly it's more difficult to pick up an ugly game and start playing, but if you do,and you find that it's fun,the graphics don't matter any more, nor does the fact that the system has 2 screens. And the 3DS doesn't have ugly games anyway. This article is just a graphics junkie whining. And in a month he'll probably be writing something disparaging about the Vita while praising cell phones. How Gamespot has fallen....

No,handheld gaming is not dead in the least. "In the time it took the 3DS to sell 8.35 million units, iOS devices sold some 67.8 million units." That argument is just stupid. That's like saying that in the time it took for 5 million go karts to be sold,50 million 4 door sedans hit the streets. Duh! People buy cars because they HAVE to. They need to drive to work. Only a few buy go karts because they are purely recreational, they aren't competing with road cars. No one buys a 4 door road car thinking,"Ah ha,now I don't need a go kart!I'll hit the dirt track with this!" No. Same for handhelds and phones. No one is buying the iPhone for Angry Birds.Perhaps the tiniest group are buying it for Infinity Blade 2. But most people buying smartphones are business people who need to do business, and soccer moms who need to keep in touch with their kids and manage their busy schedules and bill payments. But I'd put money down that almost no one is buying a smartphone specifically to game. That's what the 3DS and Vita are for. 3DS had a rocky launch, but it's up and running now. Vita looks to be kind of lethargic now,but I'm sure they can pull through same as Nintendo. The innovations that get put into handhelds simply make no sense in a phone.3D,circle pads, dual screens, all the things that serve only the purpose of gaming. Since most people buying phones aren't gaming, there is no reason to make them more gamer friendly, thus making their dominant gaming fare the likes of Angry Birds.

I'm so hyped for this next gen. I don't care for all the bickering in the console wars, but I look forward to playing the Wii U,PS4,and NexBox.

What!?! That's madness! This was the first Sony product I was going to buy brand new. "Oh it has so much power!",they said. "Oh you can suspend up to 8 functions without a problem!",another guy said. Sony has always been terrible with load times,no one can deny that.(I once rented a game to play on a friend's PS3,and had to install it.We didn't get to play it that day,and I was there no less than 8 hours babysitting his kids.) Now I see the Vita is no different. And how can it not multitask? I've played SEVERAL games on my 3DS,got stuck, suspended the game, browsed the Internet at the same speed my phone gives me,sometimes faster, found my answer, closed the browser, and resumed my game without a hitch. I found myself thinking how great the Vita must be at that on account of having so much power, but nope. Madness. Now I wouldn't say all that stuff he said about phones. I'd take a Vita gaming experience over a phone any day.I'm a dedicated GAMER. But long loading times would be bad for the 10 minute bus commute type of gaming, which I've been able to do with my 3DS on account of having no difficulty with loading at all. And all that proprietary gear is no good at all. In a cut-throat handheld world, you want to make your device fit into people's lives with as little adjustment as possible. The 3DS has it's own charger, but at least it comes packed with an SD card that can be swapped for any card up to 32 gigs.

Nintendo could be quite a beast as a software developer. However,I don't want them to do it,and they don't want it either. They literally saved the gaming industry, and revolutionized it multiple times. They've survived far worse times for the hobby as a whole. They're here to stay. The other two are doing well too,so if anyone were leaving,it'd be for some business choice,in order to make more money. But as long as they can launch cool devices and convince people how much they'd love to have them, they can make plenty of money in the console space. I don't think anyone is leaving.

They hit the nail on the head.People still will have a romantic view of an unannounced console. They're still hoping for the rumors they heard about it to be true.Plus, with Sony and M$,you generally know what you can expect. Big graphics, online play, downloadable games, media. With Nintendo there's always a question mark as to exactly what the system will do.Usually when that's answered it works out for them, but people get nervous when they don't know exactly what to expect. All I know is I hope the promises for more core style titles come true. I don't care about Bing,Zune,or voice control on my Xbox,or Bongo Billy's Backyard Ball Bash 4: Minigame Mayhem on my Nintendo console. Give me good, solid AAA games. Unfortunately, with this broad market opening up,we can expect a lot of casual material,as that will bring in money, and a lot of media stuff. In essence,we can expect boxes that do a lot of stuff we don't really care about, and they'll also play games.
