I like the points made about XBL. I don't like paying $60 a year for online service. They should find a way to make it so if I don't want certain options,I don't have to have them, and thus don't have to pay for them,so my yearly cost comes down.

I don't like this whole "console war" thing for anything other than the competition it breeds between companies, and the great products we gain from that competition. Everything else about it is just irritating. Gamers used to be more united, now they curse and argue and quibble about GPU speeds, polygons, and other meaningless garbage. They go so far as to start judging other people by the consoles they play, and they get downright vile in their arguments over what are,in the end, just toys.

However,I'm always excited for a new round of consoles, and I'm ready to see what cool new things each of the 3 will be able to do.

This is so preposterous. How long has the Slim console been out?A year? Two years? At any rate, everyone seems to be suing everyone else as a business ploy, just to get competing products off the market,or to make a buck. Someone's tried to sue Nintendo multiple times in recent months,Apple tried to sue HTC over their new EVO,now this. And it's always many years after the product comes out or is announced(with the exception of Apple's attempted lawsuit.) If these companies are so concerned about patent violations and money then why aren't they jumping on it sooner? Are they trying to wait for the allegedly infringing product to sell a bunch so they have more money to sue for?

This case smells as fishy as every other big corporate lawsuit this past year, and I feel it will go the way most of them did. I think M$ will be alright.

Week after week we are seeing the Vita suffering horrendously. At it's worst the 3DS didn't hit this bad a slump. And instead of doing anything about it,Sony keeps saying,"Oh,it's selling better than expected!" They must've had some paltry expectations! They need to get on the ball and save this system! It's potential is great, but most of the world simply does not want to pay that kind of price for what is essentially a toy.

All hail Beantown! I moved with my family to central Illinois when I was little, and this flat, empty dump simply can't compare. A good time for most of the rednecks out here is sitting around drinking or talking in some gas station diner all day while the corn and beans grow. Also, virtually no progress in terms of science and technology. The place looks almost exactly as it did back in the late 90s.

What I wouldn't give to go back out there to the world of advancement! I keep hearing talk of "new ideas." It's making me jealous.

Oh Pikmin. I don't know if it's actually in this launch lineup, but I know it's coming, and I MUST HAVE IT!

I tire of speculation, and unconfirmed reports from obscure or unidentified sources. Let's hear some real news, shall we? I'd rather wait for M$'s word on the subject.

I generally don't like to spout doom and gloom for a console before giving it it's chance, but even the 3DS didn't struggle as bad as the Vita is. I Sony doesn't do something fast,it may not make it.

I cannot disagree at all. In fact,I agree 100%. Activision,EA,Capcom(lately anyway) and a host of other big companies have lost sight of what gaming was in decades past. Of course it's business and they need to make money, but if you look at the relationship between them and the consumer,it's like watching corrupt politicians trying to manage a dissatisfied public. They've just turned so sneaky and greedy, wringing every penny from people that they can. It's sad.

Whereas Notch, among other indie devs and small companies, doesn't speak to us through a spokesman, doesn't shove cruddy DLC or yearly releases of tired franchises at us. He speaks in the language of the people. Namely Twitter and the like, and it feels more like he is in touch with the gamers and wants to craft a good time more than a huge bank account.

But big companies can be that way too. Look at Valve and their free-that's right,FREE- DLC for the excellent Portal 2. Those others have no excuse.

"The only thing I know is that people are not doing it to be evil and stupid; it's about trying to create some benefits for consumers."

No,they're doing it to make money. I'll give you this,Bach: You've been one of the most level headed guys in this argument. Most other devs come out here and try to stuff it down our throats that this is a great idea and we need to deal with it. But at least you looked at it from both sides. In the end however,it's unfair. It will only increase piracy from people who don't want to buy the game new.

My suggestion is that the devs or console makers work out a deal with secondhand places stating that new games can't be sold used for a couple of months after release, whether it's through a code or simply by not putting them on the shelf. That way,the devs make their millions off of the impatient(of which I am one when I know the game is great,i.e. Portal 2)but then those who can't afford to buy brand new games all the time or simply want to save some money can wait and pick it up at a lower price. Also,if a percentage of the used game revenue went to the developers of the games, like car manufacturers sometimes do,then they'd make money on the same copy.TWICE! They just have to convince GameStop not to be so stingy. They'll give you 10 bucks for a game then turn around and sell it for 30 or 40.There's plenty of room there for them to give some money to the devs.
