I am probably going to buy Red Dead but have neverlike GTA very much. Is Red Dead exactly like GTA? What are the differences

Use the cover system to your advantage (even though trying to get into cover is horrible sometimes), don't kill anyone when going to a mission unless you want the cops to chase you, don't even bump into a cop car or they will start to chase you, don't worry about money because eventually you do a mission that makes you set for the rest of the game (plus you really don't need money for anything other than guns), don't drive insanely fast otherwise you will screw up your car because it will be impossible to handle at that speed.

Tips to be better at the game and make the game funner.

I never really got into this game but I played it until the Dwayne mission where I had to go to the strip club and kill the managers. Could I get tips for the game in general?
