This article above is an example of how biased and uninformed reviews/previews can be. The previewer is finding any nitpick to critisise Killzone 2 on, the statement that was made was downright false and ridiculous, this is what was written:
"Killzone 2 has a distinctive look to it, but the multiplayer maps don't really give the engine much chance to show off. There are lens flare effects and the weapons have plenty of detail to them, but there are certainly no physics-based money shots such as deformable scenery or movable objects."
He then went on to "stealthily" edit the article by changing the statement by replacing "deformable scenery or movable objects" with " no movable objects or vehicles" so as to hide the fact that the statement was obviously false. Did he actually play the beta? Because one of the first things anybody would notice in the beta are the destructible environements.
There is even more evidence to show the biased stance of reveiwers/previewers:
Valkyria chronicles has still not been reviewed even though it came out more than two whole weeks ago. They should have Re-Reviewed Socom: Confrontation by now (since server issues are a thing of the past). They should have been fair with the Fallout 3 version of the PS3, they took away its AAA status just because of one bug which will be patched? The game even runs as good as the 360 version, they were proven to be lying. This thread proves it.
GameSpot has become the laughing stock of the gaming industry. Remember when Jeff Gertsmann was fired over the Kane & Lynch Review? Eidos was paying up handsomely for the advertisements and Jeff reviewed the game honestly not taking the money earned into consideration and was fired for it. This has probably frightened reviewers who dont want to follow in Jeff's footsteps and go easy up on the game review if the pay is good.
It seems that M$ pay up better than Sony do and this is why GameSpot reviewers are more critical on PS3 games. Its sad but true, today the gaming industry has become a multi-billion dollar industry and all honesty and sincerity has been thrown out of the window in order to appease Multi-million dollar companies. GameSpot should sort out their problems.
