@lionhearts007 Well my main gripe with Gamespot is that they have no standards between reviewers. Pretty sure Ghost would've gotten around 5 out of 10 if Kevin or Tom reviewed it, for example.

@strothers101 Well he did say that the multiplayer is stellar and that's what most gamers will be focusing on. You get an average campaign with a great multiplayer ? Better than a shitty campaign and a shitty multiplayer!

I'd say the insult to the Gamespot audience is the aforementionned reviews of the last weeks. Kevin's reviews are usually in-depth and well thought out, while others seem to only base their review around the popularity of the game, or even the ad revenue...but who knows, really.

@fredyellowone The leap is huge from 7th to 8th gen, the thing is that the added features aren't as obvious as 6th to 7th. When 7th gen came around, we reached a bit of a plateau for the polycount on characters, with 8th gen it only adds tessellation, which means round heads, ears, noses, fingers, etc (pretty much what Ghosts has going on with the guns in first person, scopes are really smooth). When we look at The Last of Us, the characters are absolutely beautiful, but what 8th gen will allow is to have characters slightly more detailed than The Last of Us, via what i described earlier and higher resolution textures, and it will also allow for the same level of detail in the environments, something which was absolutely impossible to achieve on 7th gen. Then you have the whole wagon of extra goodies: ambient occlusion, ambient lighting, dynamic shadows, effect simulations, etc... plus the old stuff that 7th gen should've had like AA and actual HD.

@SubHumanTorch The campaign is hands down one of the worst singleplayer experience in a shooter. The story is a mess, the character design is terrible, the villain is laughable, they try to force some kind of emotional link with the dog but he's as important as Sgt. [Insert Random Name], the voice acting and dialogues are nothing short of painful. The multiplayer adds in a wider ranger of completely ridiculous perks and killstreaks that makes player skill less and less relevant as a couple of lucky grenades will result in a streak or another that will net you automated kills. Call of Duty: Ghosts is one of the worst CoDs to date, however it has the redeeming Extinction Mode and it's one of the few games that still fully supports Local Play. Those are my personal views on why it's a, at best, a decent game. It's a must-have if you get it on a Steam Sale for 30$ and you're a shooter fan, but as a full priced entry...I guess it's still better than Thor and Iron Man.

@andybobbins16 I was talking to my cousin the other day and, when I heard his perspective as a Call of Duty gamer, I understood more about the CoD phenomenon: it's crap, but it's the best they've got. Although games like Unreal Tournament are much more fast paced, they don't care for old titles, so that leaves them with Call of Duty for their "fast paced" go to game, so they buy it every single year...

@dark_sith_ Reviews on Gamespot have no standard of comformity as far as reviewing guidelines go. At least that's what it looks like. Reviews from any one single critique is usually not very representative, user reviews are really where it's at if you ask me.

@bledsoe45sbc @Total_mischief It's around 5 hours if you take the time to find whatever pointless collectibles are lying around (and they're pretty much in your face, this is as linear as it gets).

@bledsoe45sbc @Total_mischief About as long as it took me to write that comment, though that's no surprise, preposterously short campaigns are becoming a genre standard.

The campaign is as dull as they come, I really don't get this. The characters are forgettable at best, the story is an unbelievable mess and the intensity pales in comparison to Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2. The voice acting is also terrible, which contributes to the awful characters, and the villain is about as convincing as the villains of the Adam West Batman. The fact that the game's singleplayer portion of the game is praised in the review is simply astounding. Has Shaun not played a single game since Black Ops 2 ?
