@TacticaI: You pretty much answered it right there "...the shady business practices of the mainstream/AAA markets." That is the problem.

If the original kickstarter backers had known Chris Roberts would casualise this game with Interactive Mode, they would never have backed it to get it off the ground. There are so many casual games, whether on console, PC or mobile that you can practically barf in any direction and have em splattered. Its sickening.

Star Citizen was 'sold' to the original and early backers as a re-emergence of the (flight based) space sim which would have "joystick based" controls with "no click to kill", "nothing like Freelancer."

Over 2 years of the playable content in-progress and what are we getting? Exactly what was promised NOT to happen.

@theduckofdeath: Queue Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones. There is absolutely nothing wrong with following an already written story. As a matter of fact, the "Heir to the Empire" extended universe trilogy that follows soon after "Return of the Jedi" was one of if not THE best Star Wars trilogy that I've read. If Disney based their new movie closely to what Timothy Zahn wrote, it would have had almost as great acclaim as episode 4 when it was first released.

@Psil0X: Yeah, and like, "my opinion" is that is also sucks. JJ and Disney threw a generous amount of episode 4 with some dashes of episode 5 & 6 and into a meat grinder and pulled out some really lame shit!

The reason they disregarded the great stories of the extended universe is because JJ and Disney can't be bothered with good material.

Wish I could downvote this article. I have no care what Star Citizen does with its sales. This article reads -- Chris Roberts bought out Gamespot with backer hard earned money, and now we are his b!tch. So we will shamelessly advertise every sale and along with every time someone farts at Cloud Imperium Games.

Gamespot, you are becoming a joke!

@bmanva: If it dies, it will be Chris Roberts who kills it. Just like Mech Warrior Online, a casualized shadow of what a great game that should have been.

Still waiting for Fallout 4 price to drop. $80.00 is way too steep (for where I am/exchange rate).

Huh? You've got to be kidding! Elite Dangerous should be #1 on that list. Not only is it better looking than 'most' of what was shown there (apart from crytek offerings) its also much much bigger. With (non atmo) planetary landings now out and looking more beautiful than ever. So why the omission Gamespot? ED is already Vive ready and will be Oculus ready as soon as that developer sorts everything out. Is there some kind of (motivated) agenda there? Some negative bias?

@strahd01: And I backed for both. The single player Wing Commander successor, as promised. And a massively multiplayer version of the single player Privateer game. So far, and for the past year and a half. All I see is a shiny version of the arcadey Freespace game. Something I'd never back short of having a gun put to my head. I remember I reviled in disgust when I saw someone playing that abomination of a space game back in the late 1990's.

@maxbacon: Thats just the problem. They are and have been -- for the last 1.5-2 years -- focusing on pretty assets and movie making. There has been "barely", maybe a small percentage of attention and focus paid to the gameplay, game mechanics, spaceship flight and combat. And it shows even here. Ships jerk and launch like hummingbirds with their butts on fire.

And FPS movement looks like a COD arena shooter twitch fest. No tactics, no depth, just point the cursor at the enemy, click, kill, win. And that actually applies to FPS and ship combat currently.

Like I said. Currently, this is a crowd funded Order 1886 in the making.

@normanislost: Not sure you understand. But SQ42 is a game (single player). Star Citizen is also a game (MMO). They all share the same assets and game dynamics and mechanics. Unless these game dynamics/mechanics/features are given the same attention, the game will flop. People will rather watch a youtube cutscene edit than buy/play the SQ42 game. And few will bother logging onto the persistent universe.

What percentage of backers currently play Arena Commander? less than 10%? 5%?
