@jalfrezy Super Mario 64 is a platforming game, you're thinking of Super Mario Kart 64. Also, the version coming out for Wii U is called Mario Kart 8.

Earthbound Wii U (or whatever they want to call it) and an open world (or shared world) Pokemon game similar to how Destiny has been described where you can encounter other players. Also Super Mario 64 redone with Wii U graphics...like completely redone, not just an HD remake.

@tempertress I imagine you would control canines capable of shooting firearms and there would be a remote control human. Activision claims they won't kill the human.

This is the only game that looks fun in the launch to me other than Knack and Lego Marvel Super Heroes.

I've had a PS4 preordered since May or June, but as the release date nears, I've come to the realization that all of my friends are buying going to buy a Xbox One. As much as I want to get a PS4, I know that I would be missing out if I wasn't able to play with my friends, so I will get a Xbox One for now. I was planning on buying them both anyway. Sorry PS4, you'll have to wait. :(

I remember back when new games were $49.99 and then when Xbox 360 and PS3 came out the price increase was justified due to increased production costs and whatnot. Now we've been paying $59.99 for nearly a decade now and I think the "is it/isn't it" debate is a bit over at this point.

That being said, if game publishers would like to start charging the $49.99 price, I would not argue with that. I don't really see how $10 dollars would keep companies from earning back production cost. For example, if Rockstar had charged $49.99 for GTA V, they would have only made $833 million dollars within the first 3 days as apposed to $1 billion.

@Poodger I think you're literally the only person who has replied to this who seems to grasp in any way what I am saying lol.

I realize that there will always be variables and obviously I am generalizing. I am basing my 96 months off the fact that the current generation being 8 years. Sony and Microsoft both stated when PS3 and Xbox 360 came out that they anticipated a 10 year life cycle for their respective systems. They have made the same assessment for the next generation, so I was making an estimate, but it could be less or it could be more idk. Really there is no way of knowing until the life cycle is over.

If we assume that this next gen lasts 8 years:

399.99 / 96 months = approx. $4.17 per month

even if someone waited 60 days:

399.99 / 94 months = approx. $4.25 per month

so yes the savings in that case would be very little, it is true. The savings at this point are negligible.

Now as far as price cuts are concerned, even towards the end of the lifecycle of the PS4, I believe it is probably safe to assume that Sony will only drop the price by 20-30% (at most). Xbox 360 was $399.99 at launch for the 20GB model, PS3 was $599.99 for the 60GB model, While currently both systems sell for $249.99 for the 250 GB models. assuming the same trend a new PS4 in 4+ years will be ~$249.99. Even with a price drop to $249.99 halfway through the life cycle, you're still looking at an increase in monthly cost.

$249.99 / 48 months = approx. $5.20 per month

While your total expenditure is less your cost per month increases.

Obviously, things like "pleasure" or "fun/enjoyment" cannot be quantified and vary greatly from person to person, but for me personally. I know I will enjoy the PS4, so it makes sense for me. I buy it now, so my cost to enjoyment ratio is as low as possible.
