Boy, this sure makes it apparent who watches newsmax and fox. It's a superfulous filing. The data in question was obtained during the Obama administration. This filing is meant to get the right in a tizzy, nothing more.

@zaryia: we’ll I’m off to bed now but I’ll be happy to link equally respected medical journals on how the lockdowns have been ineffectual at stopping the spread of Covid and how the death toll of the flu is comparable to Covid.

You’d never say someone who had a heart attack (and happened to have the flu) died of the flu. That’s never happened in medicine before so why has it been reported this way now? Also happy to link those figures to as they’re all listed by the UK gov on the office of national statistics website.

Not all mitigations are equal to a lockdown. The death rate was also between 8% to 10% in those early days. We literally had zero idea anything about the virus, the lockdowns were mainly to buy time to at least gather facts. It's easy in hindsight to second guess things. So yeah, you will find things saying the lockdowns were ineffectual. You won't find any studies suggesting the death tolls of the flu and covid are in any way similar. Both years of covid would be top 3 for all flu seasons in recorded history.

Nearly every viral death always occurs because of other things the viral infection caused. Flu causes pneumonia which kills most flu death victims. Pneumonia causes respiratory distress causes the heart to work much harder which can and does cause an MI(heart attack) which can kill you. Flu deaths almost always have other causes of death just like covid, except covid causes far greater numbers of more severe pneumonia more heart attacks, more organ failure, and more sepsis. Your claim that "this has never happened in medicine" couldn't be more wrong... it's literally how it's always been done. The most glaring example is HIV. The only thing the virus does is shut down the immune system. This allows other things to kill you. By your definition nobody has ever died of aids, and 35 million + official deaths shows that is obviously not the case. So please, post these links, because you either won't find them out they will say something other than what you think it does.

Why can’t you differentiate between anti mandate and anti vax. I’m not anti vax, also I’m British we’ve lifted all our restrictions and scrapped vaccine mandates. Which also means I’ve nothing to do with Maga. Biden is a laughing stock around the rest of the world btw. Dementia ridden turd that he is.

I can. I've never said you were an anti vaxxer. You are peddling misinformation though. You also live in a country with a higher vaccination rate and a universal Healthcare system.

I'm not for mandates either(except in healthcare). I'm for proper information for people to make up their minds based on the actual facts with an understanding of possible ramifications.

I hope it works out and things get back to normal sans restrictions... the other side of me sees a virus that has had several major varients in only 2 years with a wide range of infectiousness and severity. Let's hope we don't see one that is on both bad ends of that spectrum.

@judaspete: if covid is a thing of the past, he'll won easily. If not a win would be near impossible. There is more of a split in the republican party than conservatives want to admit. Go with Trump and they lose independents and the more center people in the party.... don't go with Trump and Trump will make sure you lose the magas. It is gonna be very interesting for sure.

@Serraph105: people have short memories. If covid is mostly gone by 2024(and with it 90% of the ancillary issues driving approval ratings) i don't think we will flip parties in the white house. It also depends on who runs on the republican ticket.

@eoten: a self labeled anti vaxxer comedian being used as evidence in a thread about control measures for a disease IS bottom of the barrel. I could use counter links to some washed up celebs supporting my viewpoint, but i understand using a source with no applicable experience to counter a differing celeb opinion with no experience with the topic just amounts to two equally invalid piles of shit. That's why i use sources and data from the field of medicine, and I'm not stuck using the same handful of docs over and over again with the same cherry picked data that never can produce any evidence that supports their claims(most of the time the data disproves them with very quickly)

This guy's tries to keep it on understandable level for people who have no medical background.

JP Sears. Really? Why is it that people who think like you do ALWAYS have literal bottom of the barrel sources. You guys are absolute grift magnets. If anybody is under mass psychosis it's the MAGA "conservatives".

In a November 2021 interview with Sears, the Spokesman-Review described Sears as a "conservative, anti-vaccination comic", and Sears said that pivoting to becoming a conservative comedian had "turned out to be great for my career." Sears also said that "I was never political before, but I'm insanely behind freedom.

The ultimate goal is to make gamepass enticing enough that Sony allows gamepass on playstation. I don't see how you do that without making them gamepass exclusive.

@goldenelementxl: i see this whole thing as similar to the old first world problems meme. There is no segment of society where a white male is a marginalized entity.

I can also tell who have never really hung around black people on any sort of non casual aquiantence level. It's lots of little things. Hearing car doors lock as you walk by, hearing people question what they're "doing here" simply walking in a predominantly white neighborhood, setting the look of fear when getting pulled over and the difference in the interaction with the police even when being more respectful than i have been in the same circumstances. Seeing store clerks pay a while lot more attention to my friend than me. Being aware of it and truly understanding what is like are two different things though... women can, minorities can, lgbt people can as they've all been subjected to it... white men in this country have not. I think the aim of this is to shift that microscope on to white people on some level so rather than merely sympathizing we can start empathizing.
