So who in the world would want to play Madden with 15 minute quarters?  If you had some friends over that had to wait to play, do you honestly believe that they would wait 3 hours for a football videogame? No.  I would never ever play any sports games in real-time.  It's too time consuming for any gamer whether die hard or casual.  Your reasoning is silly.  2K5 did have a more realistic approach in gameplay.  It wasn't arcadey whatsoever.

yes it does, it allows you to play that character more in depth then just on field.  what you fail to realize is that football has on and off the field things that go on.
