I turned 23 two days ago. I've played video games since I was three, picking out which chest for my aunt to open in Zelda: A Link to the Past. Since I turned 13, I have almost exclusively played M-rated video games.

I would not consider myself a violent person, nor do video games push me in that direction.

Why? Because my parents have played an active role in my upbringing. The Sandy Hook shooting they reference at the end, the boy was picked on at school and family members have reported that the mother hardly helped the situation.

Don't blame violence on entertainment; violence was here first. Blame it on bad families who don't teach their children right from wrong.

As an avid 360 player, I'm passing on this one. Whether or not the used bit is true (which, if I have to pay to "activate" a used game, I'd be pissed about already), the constantly checking online bit kills any interest I might of had.

I've got a few PC games that require internet connection, and it's complete bullshit. I'll be sticking with PS4, if I get a next gen console.

I turn 23 this month and I've played video games since I was three years old, picking out which treasure chests for my aunt to open in Link to the Past. I play video games daily, the overwhelming majority of which are rated M. I have no violent tendencies to note (in fact, I actually work with children ages 4-14 during the day).

Am I desensitized? Possibly, but I think most of it is from my Criminal Justice degree.

Do you want to find a REAL correlation? Try studying this:
Violence in teens and their relationship with their parents.

Every teen shooting of our generation, there are records showing that the kids were passively or actively neglected by their parents. Adults that blame video games simply can't accept the fact that they're just bad parents.

Violence has been around forever; video games have not.

@Jasondoreen Exactly. Many games I've downloaded, I've usually done so to test how well they performed. I do not have a high standard laptop by any means (what few games I can manage to play are at minimum settings, always) and I don't see the point in shelling out $50-60 for a game, just to find out that it won't run.

"Well, buy a better laptop." Why? I don't -need- one, if the games run fine at minimum settings. I still play Chrono Trigger and Earthbound from time to time. I don't need amazing graphics, if the gameplay is good. What I need is to be sure the game runs; which, 95% of the downloads (basically, all except Sims 3 and Empire:Total War - both of which I now have hard copies of) I've had to delete because my laptop simply couldn't handle it.

So I'm one of the ones that pirate for a demo and purchase if I feel it's worth it.

I'm about to graduate college. I'm about to get married.

$10 increase? DRM? No used purchases? Then I'll likely be done with gaming for good.

I know these are rumors and some (DRM and no used purchases) are most likely not going to occur, but this is where I stand: our generation, the ones that brought Sony and Microsoft strongly into the spotlight, are getting older (and having kids who MIGHT take our place). Our priorities are changing. If they still want our money, they'll be careful where they tread.

I had issues with Diablo III's faulty DRM (it killed my interest and I now consider it a waste).
I have issues with paying the full price of $60 (much less, $70!) for a game that I might not even like (I, therefore, Redbox/borrow the game to decide if it's worth borrowing).

What do I not have an issue with if all this comes to pass? Pirating. Punish the legit consumers, and they turn away.

@LJSEXAY That's what I immediately thought when I pulled up the article. Hell, if TR had been open world, it would've easily surpassed Far Cry 3 in every way, for me (I relate because TR was almost everything I wanted from FC3, the latter which I found to be disappointing).

@colorhorizon I sympathize, but I purchased Sims 3 on day one and the only issue I ever had was my laptop shutting itself off due to overheating because of bad ventilation.

That said, I guarantee I'm avoiding this game. For Sims 1, expansions were fine. Sims 2, I skipped (therefore, didn't have to deal with it). Then, when they began releasing expansions for Sims 3 (which looked like polished versions of 1's expansions and videos of what I'd seen for 2's expansions), I laughed.

EA's all about lining their pockets, to the point that their selfish ways just cost then 10% of their employees.
