Well, didnt this exact same scenario happen to Final Fantasy though? A developer known for their impressive RPGs, in fact some of the most famous RPGs of all time, released the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XIII, which was, well I cant really think of a better word than "crap." I dont think Skyrim is any more immune to such an outcome than Final Fantasy XIII was and look what happened there. So... ya, it could happen. :P

But what if Skyrim becomes one of those games that goes down in history for being one of biggest gaming disappointments ever? You know, on a level where pretty much everyone will agree that its pretty bad or at least not nearly as good as everyone expected it to be?

True, but I also kind of like the HD aspect of the remakes and I mean they are usually only 40$ so its not that much. And you usually get more than 1 game so its double the awesome. I got the God of War remakes last year and they were epic.

I have always imaged a developer would make AAA game selling millions of copies. Then come back next year with the worst game that took 10 days to make and keep extreme wraps and only show what you want to get hype to make EXTREME Profit.

or re release the game and call it 2...

Then rename the dev and do it all over again.

It's only a matter of time before someone replies to this with a Call of Duty comment.

My first though was Dragon Age 2, but Call of Duty work as well. xD Hopefull this wont happen to Skyrim though.

I know this isnt likely at all but what if all the planets aligned and the inconceivable did happen? You open the box while admiring its beautiful artwork, genetly remove the disk while consumed by giddy joy, turn on your system with each second it takes to power up feeling like hours, and insert the game. You begin by making your character still unable to believe that all the months of patient waiting are finally at an end. The first suprise pops up almost immedeately when you notice that there aren't that many options in character creation. "Whatever" you say to yourself, "Lets just get this show on the road." You soon enter the world of Skyrim and are instantly dumbfounded by its sheer beauty. "Holly crap, the graphics are amazing. The landscapes are simply beautiful" you can't help thinking, but, as you progress and begin to explore the map you realize that, while beautiful, it is not much else. There is very little variety and the world is in fact quite small. At this point you experience some combat, lets say with a pack of bandits, and, even there, the game fails to impress. "Sure, a game like this isn't expected to have top of the line sword fightning and what-not, but this amount of awkward clunkiness and lag is simply too much." After defeating the bandits you decide to focus on the main quest. A few hours later you are shocked by how simple, short and predictable it is. "Well, Oblivion's main quest wasn't particularly noteworthy either. It was the guild's that provided intriguing and captivating stories." With that mind, you begin making a name for yourself as Skyrim's greatest thief and assassin. You are shocked to discover that instead of the visceral and fascinating tales told by the guilds in Oblivion, you are given simple and repetitive "steal this" or "kill them" missions witn no over-arching stories. At this point your hope begins to fade. The nagging and persisting thought that you've tried so desperately to ignore suddenly becomes undeniable. Skyrim is crap. How would you react?

I think Skyrim will sweep most major awards, in part due to its quality and in part due to its tremendous and certain success. Perhpas Skyward Sword will also take some home if only due to the nastalgia assosciated with Zelda.

Because this is Gamespot and the people have a borderline unhealthy devotion to Battlefield. Also, they release a new Call of Duty game every year which dont leave any time for any serious to be built up.

I for one am all for it. Having grown up in a country where video games were pretty much non-existant I've missed out on a lot of so called classics such as Ocarina of Time and ICO so having these HD remakes for current generation consoles is awesome as it means I dont have to spend money buying old and out of date equipment just to play one or two games.

Whats funny is that when I saw this thread I kept trying to think of other awesome characters from this generation and I couldnt think of too many. There is Ezio as you said, Nathan Drake, Sackboy(?), uh... I dunno... It seems that there havent been too many memorable original characters from this geneartion. Probably a testament to the current lack of imagination in the industry. So ya, I would agree that Ezio is one of the best characters for sure.
