Dead Space was the first Xbox 360 game I bought. When I first looked into open deep space while I was in a vacuum, I was in awe. The graphics were brilliant from this view. The planets and stars were impressively vivid, giving me a sense of wonder of what may be out there. On the flipside, this was a very gruesome game, where the true delight of playing it rested. The necromorphs were savage monsters that could only die by being ripped limb by limb. The most entertaining aspect to me personally was the atmosphere, constantly keeping me in suspense and struggling to stay alive and to be alert at all times. Then there is the ending which I thought was classic and worthy of the title sci-fi horror.

Dead Space received mixed reactions from various critics, people either loved it or thought it to be insignificant, merely a footnote in the reviews. To me, it was intense and exhilarating. The sequel arrives early next year, promising an improved experience and even a multiplayer mode. The multiplayer seems to have potential, pitting a team of humans against a team of necromorphs. Isaac Clarke's new suit is more polished and has more style. There are a greater variety of necromorphs as well as new weapons. Stasis and kinesis remain as they should. Isaac even has a voice this time around.

Please post your thoughts on Dead Space 2, positive or negative, I'd appreciate the feedback!

Some video games are bad, some average, others are great and excellent. Then there are games that are art. Video games will never have a true "pinnacle" because technology continues to progress, yet there will always be high points and defining moments that make certain games stand out above most of the competition. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was the first 3D Zelda adventure and a fun one as well. Mario games continue to produce excellent platformers. Final Fantasy 7 had a memorable cast of heroes and villains and is still a highly respected RPG. Devil May Cry and God of War were mesmerizing action games that were among the most fun to play on the PS2. Resident Evil 4 recreated a dying formula and remains one of my favorite horror shooters. The Halo games started an online competition that became a virtual sport. Gears of War set the bar for next generation games. Bethesda's Fallout 3 was a monumental RPG that I'll never grow tired of. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare breathed new life into the war genre by moving out of World War 2 and created one of the finest FPS out there. Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 captivated me like no other game.

To me, these games are some of the high points in video gaming, with no doubt works of art. Forgive me if I left out a game you treasure, which is why I ask you this question: What games do you believe are works of art?

I have long been a fan of the Final Fantasy series and after playing Final Fantasy 7 for the first time, I thought Square Enix had no equal as an RPG developer. Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy 8 were truly masterpieces as well. However, despite many remarkable achievements, I believe the Final Fantasy series is falling under the shadow of Bioware. In my opinion, Bioware has demonstrated the next evolution of the RPG genre. Every RPG Bioware has made has been state of the art and absolutely magnificent. Bioware has introduced a new breed of RPGs such as KOTOR, Dragon Age Origins, and who could forget: the Mass Effect series. Square Enix needs to revamp the Final Fantasy series if they want to keep up, so far Final Fantasy 13 has been a decent step, but not a solution. Who do you side with, Bioware or Square Enix? Thankfully there is room for both.

Mine is Soap MacTavish, simply because he yanked a fully embedded knife out of his chest and killed a guy with it.
