I have a smartphone and have had for nearly 2 years. Despite listing gaming as my main hobby I have precisely zero games on my phone! Why? Because I like games with length and depth and will happily pay full price for a decent game rather than a couple of quid for some "fun for 5 minutes" on my phone. I for one am getting a Vita on the 22nd as soon as the shop opens. Long live handheld gaming!
Normally Mark you make a lot of sense but in this I think you have missed the point by so much that you must have been facing in the wrong direction! I wouldn't lower my standards to the rubbish that is Angry Birds - games like that are great for 5 mins, once then delete it ( unless you are five ). I want a proper handheld with top rated games - Virtua Tennis, Everybody Golf, ModNation, Wipeout - all ideal for 10-15 min bursts and also for longer sessions for those long lonely nights away in hotels on business. The Vita is for people who want to play real games on the go and having had half an hour with one yesterday I so can't wait for the 22nd!!
Until everyone has a broadband connection capable of using a "streaming" service and therefore doesn't need to buy or even download the games there will always be room for consoles. Here in the UK we are a long long way from being in that position!! I certainly wouldn't consider giving up a console and being dependant on broadband for ANY gaming experience!!!
