I found pistols weak but thought rifles and shottys were brutal. I'm defo in the minority cause of heard this a load of times. I also thought Uncharted 1 was an incredible game tho so don't mind me :Plocopatho

:o

Don't even get me started on that, I could write a book on why you're wrong on every level imaginable! :P

Let's just say, I still have an occasional nightmare about that jet-ski level, the boss that makes no sense, or the bunker full of monsters that makes even less sense, if that's possible.

Yeah, though I'd call the gunplay flat-out bad, with no sugar coating. The firefights were the weakest parts of the game, often resulting in total frustration when facing a bunch of heavily armored bullet sponges. That's the fatal flaw, but to make it worse, the guns also have no weight to them, no sense of kick or power, and you never get the feel of shooting at humans, enemies simply don't react satisfyingly to bullets, a big dissapointment when you take into the account how well the animations look during scripted events.

And yeah, for me, the best part of the game was seeing where will it take me next, as well. Also, by not finishing it, you saved yourself a lot of frustration, the last level packs some of the most frustrating enemies ever, and the boss fight sucks... oh man, it sucks!

I've heard this so many times and never understood it. I loved the gunplay. When I shot fools in the head, they died. Did everyone play on Crushing straight off or what?

Nah, played on normal, and a single playthrough was all I could bear with. I also remember plenty of enemies surviving headshots, even without any helmets.

The enemies took far too many bullets to die, and everything felt... loose. Also, I hated the sections where you were forced in a small area swarming with heavily armored enemies, like that train. Tight corridors, and aside from heavily armored shotgunners, you also get a chopper shooting at you all the time. Died a lot of times there, and ironically, the same level was one of the reasons why I really wanted to try UC2, looked great in the trailer, but for me, it was a frustrating mess.

Aside from the boss and the final level, another place that made me pull my hair out was some courtyard in that snowy temple, where you're holding the line against a bunch of armored thugs, and IIRC, later on, a few of those snow beasts join the "fun."

Really hated the mountan village as well, when it gets attacked by that damn tank.

In that case, have fun. I think it gets far more hate here than it deserves, and I'd say most of it is rooted in attempts to downplay the visuals which undoubtably make many consolites jelly! :P

All in all, I think it's a solid shooter, average stuff, but it works. It's also over before it starts dragging on.

And it goes without saying, graphics are extraordinary, but fairly demanding, so don't be shy to reduce the settings a little if you need more FPS, the game will still look awesome.

You know what's crazy? I don't notice any difference between "High," "Extreme," and "Ultra" in Crysis 2, aside from decreases in frame rates. The same goes for BF3.

Get the DX11 patch along with high res textures.

MaldoHD is far more important.

Honestly, DX11 and high-res textures introduce very little change in Crysis 2, aside from a major performance drop due to rushed DX11 integration. Remember tessellated water running under entire levels for no reason, or some minor objects being heavily tessellated?

That's not suprising, usually, a lot of the settings affect some of the more subtle visual elements you don't tend to notice much unless you're looking for them, and hell, sometimes you even get a few that are purely placebo! :P

But try to play with some more important ones like resolution, texture detail, shadows, shaders, and you'll notice the difference.

Uncharted 2 ageless? Give me a break. It got so highly praised beacause of its production values. An aspect of gaming that ages terribly. Mark my words, Uncharted will be forgotten. Just a terrible game IMHO. It's one bad design choice after another with that game...

This... I wouldn't call it flat-out terrible, but painfully overrated and mediocre, sure.

Mechanically, it is extremely shallow. I haven't played many shooters with gunplay and shooting mechanics as utterly mediocre as Uncharted's. The platforming manages to be more guided and linear than Assassin's Creed. And the "puzzles" aren't about the player solving anything independently: it's about reading Drake's journal and being told the answer.

The best part of Uncharted 2 was the pacing. Despite the crappy shooting I felt pretty riveted to the action because there was something new happening throughout the first half. But in the later half of the game, when you catch back up with Lazazrevic and Chloe, the game devolves into shooting gallery after shooting gallery, which is something the series struggles with as a whole.

I still haven't beaten Uncharted 2 because it got so incredibly boring near the end, yet I managed to force myself to beat the other two.
You shouldn't refer to the suit as the actual Prophet, who blew his own brains out at the beginning of Crysis 2. The suit isn't actually Prophet, but thinks and acts as him.
BluRayHiDef
Well, it's a bit confusing, but over the course of the game, many time it's mentioned Prophet transfered his "mind" into the nanosuit, but his body started to fail, which is why he had to replace it with Alcatraz, the dying marine. Ultimately, you are Prophet, and you even refer to yourself as Major Lawrence Barnes through the game.

I argue that he copied his mind to the suit, but the real (original) him is dead. Think of Jor-El's AI copy in Man of Steel.

I have no idea anymore...

tumblr_maxpieCmjF1qh5u4lo1_500.gif

It's one of those stories that manages to work, as long as you aren't overthinking it! :P
Crysis 3 Spoiler.
I didn't play the game, but I found out via Youtube that the suit transforms itself into Prophet. WTF?
BluRayHiDef
Yeah, that's the ending, Crysis 3 wraps up the Crysis franchise, the explanation is, Prophet forms a full symbiosis with the nanites in his nanosuit over the course of the game, which allows him to take basically any form he wants... and after defeating the Ceph and forcing them away from Earth, he simply wants to become human again. Also, the ending cutscene takes place in a Crysis locale, which is a nice touch. All in all, the series ended on a pretty high note, if you ask me. Could've ended far worse, or get milked into the ground.
