I agree on the comparison point. See the other 11 launch titles for PS3, to put things in greater perspective: http://kotaku.com/the-ps3-had-12-games-at-launch-heres-what-they-looked-513396910

Thanks Jacanuk, this deserves highlighting: They could have gotten rid of Animus and spent time on expanding the pirate universe more. which would have made this a 10/10.

Set your user agent to iPad, which will trick the site into delivering you an standard non-Flash H.264 video. Then you can context-click and select download.

Easy. ?

It looks intriguing. I just hope the controller is less expensive than the de facto Steam Machine.

As much as I like Steam, I am siding with the doubters as to impact that Steam Machines is going to make in the crowded living room space.

Steam has much to prove with this ecosystem integration. They've promised a lot of features that are supposed to "just work," and have no real track record with hardware. For such an integrated vision, they are breaking it up into little bits, literally, in their piecemeal announcements. The beta program will be limited, the devices won't be available for some time, the hardware experience will vary from vendor to vendor, optimizations are still progress, with plenty of "just wait it's gonna be great" speak. The message is a bit washed out.

Valve also claims they are making inroads with content providers to cover the entertainment angle. I have strong doubts as to their success in this, other than, say, Netflix (which is decent).

I want them to succeed in this. Success will be determined by the quality of the hardware, the gestalt of the user experience, and the price point.

Conclusion: "It's good for everyone" -- developers, gamers, PCs. (see last paragraph)
