Dear fellow computerfreaks!

The pc that I'm using to type this message, is almost falling apart... I think I can see "the tunnel of light" when I turn it on... ;-) Time for a new one!

Problem is that I know quite the lot about software, but hardware isn't really my speciality. Actually I know nothing.

I'm afraid that I will over- or underspend. I'm looking for a rig that has a good balance between money and quality. I'm thinking about spending around € 2.000 . So the budget shouldn't be a problem.

I'm typically a RTS-player. So lots and lots of RAM, and a beast for a Vidcard is recommended. I was thinking about:

Gigabyte GV-N78TOC-3GD

If you guru's could help me with a processor, vidcard and ram, I think I'll be in the clear. Unless there is something special that I need to know about for example Cooling, power supply, SSD's....

I bow to my superiors and thank you guys in advance for all the help.

Kind Regards

The Reaper

Hi

I'm looking for a program and (probably I'm an idiot) just can't find it anywhere!

What I want it to do is very, very simple. I want to write a flow, but be able to collapse it so I can keep a clear overview. For example:

1. City

1.1 Locations

1.1.1. Bar

1.1.1.1. Buy items

1.2. Stores

1.2.1 ....

You get the idea. I tried (geheh) Word... But this was so frustrating I threw in the towel. Can someone help me find a program that gives me the ability to make this easy overview?

Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry for the late reply... I've totally lost track of this post. I actually never expected a response.

Thank you very much for the responses. I thought a game like this would be difficult to find. But with your responses, it makes me understand why. I'll definitely keep track of this genre.

To go a little off topic, you guys actually helped me a bit. I'm writing a game script (well... I'm trying). Not for this genre, but an open ended, non-linear drugbaron game. For example, you can grow weed in a barn or attic, have guys on the street that sell it... But you can also be a farmer in afganistan growing poppies, or establish a drugconnection from colombia to america. The idea is that you can create your own life. Have a family, while avoiding the police and trying to make millions. Most of this game is actually (believe it or not) achievable. For example, games like "drug lord" and "Real lives 2010" are based on the kind of same concept. Only mine will be more expansive (keep hidden, buy all kinds of stuff, you have FBI, CIA, DEA, more of a management game actually). See it as a "Scarface meets Breaking Bad Simulator".

One of the problems I'm facing now is the contacts and contacts relationships. If I don't want this game to be as dull and boring as watching bread rise, I'll have to make sure the player will bond or hate the other characters. THAT is the power of this game. But actually that is nearly impossible as @Byshop said, procedural content doesn't work with dialog. Anyone have any ideas that might help me forward? Right now I'm thinking about just dropping the whole "build a relationship" thing and just add "random events" triggered by people. But this will exclude the possibility of creating best friends or mortal enemies. Which will take a lot of feeling and emerging away from the game.

Anyway... Sorry to go off topic. Thanks for all your help and if you have some advice or ideas for my concept (or want to know more) just let me know.

Hi,

Are there any games out there for pc that live up to the title of this thread?
I don't care about graphics, but about gameplay.

To be more specific, i'm looking for a game that will "simulate" a detective career. But random generated, so you can pick which kind of jobs you solve, and become better and get more difficult cases.

Probably it doesn't exists.

Thanks in advance!

Alright. For the people who might also be interested in such a game I was looking for, I found the perfect one.

Believe it or not, but it is actually The Sims 3 with all expansion packs.

The game lets you gather tons of different stuff. Gems, butterflies, beetles, meteors, books, vintige wines, paintings, metals, ghosts, collectable art collections, plants, fishes, fireflies, cars, and numberous more different stuff.

You can also build your own museum that is owned by your sim and people will pay admissions that you receive at the end of the week. The more valuables you have the more they'll pay. Which allows you to build a bigger museum and so on.

The only downside is that you have to take care of your sim, but I actually don't mind that much. That makes the game more challenging. For people that don't like that I'm sure there are cheats that will solve the problem.

Thanks for all the responses but for now I'll take my chances with this game. I'll be busy for months collecting all that stuff and building a giant museum to earn millions.

It's true what you guys say. Fallout and Skyrim and Borderlands all have massive things to collect... (Indeed almost any RPG). And are great games. But for some reason I'm just not in the mood for games like that to start collecting stuff. I enjoy the storylines and sidemissions more.

I remember a pretty silly game called recettear where you own a pawnshop. You had to find special items and buy them from people if they offered them. Besides the stuff you'd sell in the store, you could build a private collection as long as you didn't sell the items. This was pretty cool. Something like that is what I'm looking for. Why am I not playing Recettear then? Because I got bored of it and it didn't have a lot of stuff to collect. :)

That Lego game sounds good. Not too hard, but fun gameplay. So I can focus on collecting the items. But I'm afraid the game might not have "tons" to gather.

Alright some nice reactions here.

What about the lego games? That sounds interesting to me. I've played the lego batman but that didn't let you collect a lot of stuff... Which games are you talking about specificly?

Assassins Creed, indeed! They had that "museum" to collect your stuff. Pretty cool, but not good enough (atleast gathering wise).

Morrowind and Skyrim are too big of a game to focus on gathering. You have to do too much. That's not what I'm looking for. Played both of them. Great games.

I've played both games. Not exactly what I'm looking for.

I'm looking for a game that's really focused on gathering and collecting the items. The more items are in the game the better. And indeed maybe a way of displaying them.

Platform = PC by the way.

Hi guys

I am in the mood for a collecting game. I don't mean a game where you collect items during playthrough like Diablo. I mean a game that is actually build for creating your own collection. Like collecting stamps in real life. :p

I just don't have any idea or games like this actually exist. The only thing that comes to mind is Magic the Gathering or a pokemon game, but that's not really what I am in the mood for.

Is there a game that will let you collect items and create your own museum for instance? Something like that is what I'm looking for.

Any reaction is welcome! Thanks in advance for all your expertise, ladies and gents.

I've heard there is some trouble with Wages of War on the newer pc's, so I'm not going to order it. Like mouse issieus and crashes...

Still no one else knows another game like this?
