@hull20004 Microsoft is losing in the Phone business, Lost in the Ipod music business, and now PCs are becoming Smart Phones and IOS/Android Tablets as more and more people ditch their Home phones and PCs. HP just came to that conclusion and is now restructuring their company and more companies will do the same. (This is NOT the death of the game rig; game rigs are one thing that is keeping PCs alive!)

Thus Microsoft is changing also to recoup their losses from other divisions.

@Taz_12_Dave People are willing to pay $$$ $35.00 - $60.00 dollars a year for Live when its free for PC and PS3. Of course they think people have money and Microsoft wants it. All your monies belong to Microsoft!!

@Arkay_B O.o ... THIS is Microsoft you are talking about .... they sell gold live cards for $60.00 a year just to play online or use Netflex which you already pay for. And then people think they are getting a deal if they see the card or less. WOW what a BARGAIN Live Gold for $35.00. WOW!!! When its FREE on PC and PS3!!! Unless it makes MS money they will not do it.

@billnye69 The problem is like KINECT STAR WARS showed is that many casual gamers buy games and they represent more money and that is what this every business is about MAKING MONEY. Who ever gives the MOST money for the LEAST cost is what companies will focus on. Kinect cost little to make and sells for a lot. Millions have sold and so cheap games will be a PLENTY!! compare the cost to make a great game like skyrim, GTA, .... hundreds of millions, while kinect Star Wars, and other kinect games cost a few million.

@69 The problem is people do NOT want the PC hassles. They do not want to worry about compatibility issues, looking up drivers, updating parts and wondering which is the best part or just buying a new PC, wondering if their PC can run the game or it they need to upgrade, what to upgrade and how to upgrade, WHEN will they need to upgrade to play newer games...... and on and on and on...

I and many others do not want to EVEN THINK about any of that. We want to place in the disk and play. No need to worry at all. IF the PC could do that then it will again be bought. As it is I use my phone for a lot of what my OLD computer could do.

IF next gen consoles focus on graphics again then I will wait a LONG time before getting that console. IF they focus on

AI, Voice synthesis, Voice recognition, Physics. Game interaction, stories that allow HUGE changes from the player interactions, (Mass Effect who? Choose your own Adventure (cyoa) would have NOTHING on these games) Then I would pick one up for $700.00 and for the first time pay for Liive.

For me to go the way of the PC, I would want a platform that Developers/Publishers agree on. Mid level Gaming PC say the end of this year CPU = Intel Core i7-3770K @ 3.50GHz GPU = Geforce GTX 570 or AMD equivalent For $700.00 DX11 and ALL games that come out next year MUST have these specs to run any new game, and new specs would come out every 5 years for about the same money but just as needed. this would increase AI.... as stated above. Then I would get a New PC.

Naturally in between new cards would have better graphics and be able to run on 2-4 screens.

@RAHBRT Sony came out 1 year TOO soon with PS3 if they waited not only would the PS3 had an updated Cell that used all 8 SPUs and higher GHZ but ALSO a 4X bluray player that would be a lot faster.

@buddybuk NOT gong to happen. PC rigs will ALWAYS pass up consoles. I am not even sure that NEXT gen consoles will match I7 extreme with 2 Ge-force 690 card in SLI mode.

The only thing keeping consoles ahead is that Developers do NOT push PC games or make PC games that REQUIRE high end PCs.

@SemiMono @Toysoldier34 I would love for you to ask them how many are gong to replace those computers when they die, or how many of them are looking to get a new computer later on as a replacement. (NOT a GAMING rig) I work at a school and many of them have smart phones and as smart phones become more powerful these kids will just use the phone. Ipad and alike devices are becoming more popular. PCs (NOT gaming rigs) will be old fashion if it is not already. I think give it 5 years and PC will = gaming rig as that will be the only reason to get a PC.

Still I wonder how this translation will effect gaming rigs.....

@Toysoldier34 NOT AT ALL. PC gaming is one thing that is keeping PCs alive.

PCs in general are being replaces by phones and tablets, or you could say that PCs are changing into Phones and tablets.
