This is talking about DLC exclusivity like all the preorder garbage for things like Destiny, or the month long DLC deals Activision has with either console maker
To be fair to Phil, he came in well after the 360 and One initial pitches were done. Maybe he couldn't have stopped any other deals, but he hasn't made any new ones

@dead888: Probably because its actually not bad to invest in Microsoft. Comparative growth wise, MSFT has better futures ahead, and they pay dividends to shareholders. Sony's value tends to stick around the mid 20's mark, but has growth over the last year. They pay no dividends, however, and growth in the game industry isnt exactly stable.
Consoles are sold at a loss. The primary benefit for console manufacturers when they have a sales lead is the software sales they gain in the process. However, Xbox One exclusive games continue to sell at better attach rates than PS4 games, so investors tend to overlook a slow quarter in gaming for MSFT, whereas its a large focus for Sony.
AAA games are the other story, and while Sony undoubtedly sells more games, lots of these purchases come from bundle buyers, giving them very small gains in their profit margin.
Important to note is that this is probably the reason PS4 multiplayer is tied behind a payment system. MS started doing it because maintaining their servers was getting expensive, and they needed a revenue that isnt tied to manufacturing that could offset their losses from the RROD issue. Sony has recently doubled down on gaming, essentially removing themselves from the TV and appliances space, and shifted focus to the Playstation brand and their movie studio
@lustgreedenvy: The only comparable game to Bloodborne is Killzone Shadow Fall. All wikipedia has is their last official reported sales units, and Killzone's were given over a longer period of time. Killzone SF had poor reviews and a large sale drop off, while DLC and really good reviews likely pushed Bloodborne slightly ahead of of Killzone SF.
I guess the difference between us is I can use google and my brain. Probably why I dont game on the Playstation 4. And my original claim was PS4 games do not sell well. Before Uncharted, the attach rate for your biggest exclusive (Killzone SF or Bloodborne, Wiki has them listed as 100,000 copies apart, thats nothing in the gaming industry) was 5%. 5% of PS4 gamers owned your largest exclusive. Uncharted brought that up to a measly 10% I'd bet, but thats me being generous. Meanwhile, on X1, Halo 5 sold 5 million copies in its first 3 months. That number doesnt include digital sales or any of the months following January 2016, and even at that number, gives us anywhere between 20-25% attach rate.
Half the reason the PS4 is winning in sales this generation is because Europeans buy the PS4 and the latest version of FIFA, and nothing else. Its brand recognition.
So no need to pretend like Sony fans are all about the emotional *buzzword buzzword buzzword* filled experiences, like the original comment does. Instead, just realize your exclusives sell terribly.
Its amazing how people rush to defend what is a poor game with a great story. There are better versions of that. They are called movies. You want an interactive one, fine, be my guest. Just try to realize you buy a $400 machine and then a $60 game for a friggin interactive movie. Either that, or bad movie ripoffs like Uncharted and TLOU, either taking from Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider or just milking off the fad of plague filled end of days like Walking Dead.
@suicidesn0wman: Thats not as many commands as Cortana can do. Thats my point. No other console has a Cortana. She does more than just simple navigation.
@Sandpark: VR is an integral part of the PS experience. Cortana voice commands are an additional feature, to use only if you have a headset, do not have Kinect, and want to use voice commands. You cant equate the two. (Edit: Important to note. Cortana Voice Commands came as part of a FREE update. PSVR costs $400. Not to mention that if you dont have the camera, you either get a bundle or pay another $60 for something that is ESSENTIAL to PSVR, but not included with it. Really Sony?)
Its fine if PS4 loses points for not having a version of the Elite Controller. Its weird to dock points from the PS4 if the controller had buttons instead of triggers. All MS did was add one more option to control the console. And it took 2 paragraphs to talk about how bad it was? Nothing else to talk about, so talk about a small feature most people dont care about?
VR is a new gimmick, and either it catches on or it doesnt. Depending on that, the industry will grow. Never the less, its important to note that there arent that many good games out now, it still causes nausea for people. and Sony is asking you to make a large investment in something that may never really take off. Investing in a console is one thing. Imagine if PSVR doesnt work with PS5? Thats why its a big investment at this time, and so far, they havent put out something worth that investment.
You just said you wanted the Scorpio if it aimed for the ceiling, then said that it wont sell if it doesnt cut corners. In either case, no one knows what will happen, but so far, it goes as follows.
Xbox One vs PS4, Xbox One S vs PS4 Slim, PS4 Pro vs Scorpio. Except just like the 360, the Pro gets a 1 year sales advantage. You cant predict sales, and neither can I.
If you cant navigate the Xbox menu, how they hell are you making it past the start menus in pretty much all video games.
Lord forbid whoever wrote this review had to go through an inventory menu in an RPG. Seems like they might have a mental breakdown.
Also, why trash on Cortana if its an additional feature that could theoretically work for any other console, but is only on Xbox. Its voice commands using a headset/mic. All other consoles have headsets and mics. Only the Xbox One lets you control it using them. Seems fairly picky to go after something like that, and not touch on MS opening up cross-platform play, the survey that found XBL to be more reliable, etc.
