It's personally very sad to see the creators like W. Specter and K. Levine, whom gave us such great story based games like Thief/System Shock/Deus Ex/Bioshock..ect, exit outside the AAA division of the industry.

Add in Yu Suzuki as well with his epic storytelling in Shenmue 1 & 2.

The combination of Specter/Levine was what delivered the deepest storyline in the fps genre, the original Deus Ex.

There are few remaining developers whom we can count on for such great storylines inside a fps game, mainly Bethesta.

I'm worried about the more intellectual side of fps gaming and gaming overall.

Heck it's even been 10 years now since HL2.., and were still waiting on HL3.

btw: Danny, thanks again, as your video's are the only one's that are always dead on.

Oh..Danny boy, great video!.

I'm an old time gamer(but not yet 50..lol) , so each Jan and Feb. i replay the 11 games it tested(in house or gold discs before public beta's). Going back to Redneck Rampage is just plain hillarious, playing Killing Time for the 20th yr straight(it was released in Sept. 95') and loving it(even if the frame rate so often crawls at under 15fps) and all the way back to the only freelance game i ever finished(for the C64 using raster interrupts to get a whopping 64! sprites on screen..lol) that was turned down because of the storyline but this one company used my graphics 'tricks' later on(legal or not), to Vampires: Bloodline..ect. It all brings back memories and makes me appreciate living through Pong to BF4/Crysis3/KZ:SF..ect.

I used to go back to Wing Commander each winter I until Doom1/Quake1/Unreal1 but since 2003 i have been going back over and over on game that was so ahead of it's time, with it's attention to detail.

That game is Shenmue 1 and 2(japanesse version of 2 was the far better #2).

Before there was GTA3 there was Shenmue and iv'e still never seen such attention to details, including the current amazing 'worlds' of say GTA:V.

One last thing, when i'm playing say UT or Quake 2 or the Wing Commander series or Space Quest or Duke Nukem(or even ROTT) it reminds me of when games were just an addicting blast, of which i cannot quite say that of the this past generation.

Joel McHale did not belong on the show, heck it seemed like he did not even wish to be there.

And Danny?

Thank You!, you nailed everything i was thinking to a 'T'.

I've been gaming since the Pong days(yes, i'm that old), and i'm not sure when..if ever, we will see the gaming industry gets the respect it deserves.

Yet the gaming industry(be it consoles/pc, even tablet games) makes more money then the movie industry every year.

There will be a time when even the older then 60 yr olds will be gamers as well, and by that time, the industry will finally get the respect it always deserved.

After playing GTA:V, in shock how much Rockstar pushed old hardware, it should be expected that UBI deliver eithier 1080/60 mid settings or 1080/30 high-very high settings(ultra is for mid-high pc rigs).

What is alarming is when they are now saying if it's running in 1080/30 or perhaps 720/30?

That's just bad coding or rushing the game out too quickly, and alot more a development issue then an issue with the PS4 performance, as that console(with it's 7850/7870 hybrid gpu) should be able to handle even Crysis 3 on ultra in 1080p.(30fps of course)

Still, while i'm getting this on the pc(I7 and Titan gpu, so 1080/60 is a lock) i'm also curious how the PS4 version turns out and will be picking this up for the PS4.

One thing seems so obvious for those(like me) whom have a solid pc:

-Buy only the exclusives on the next gen. consoles, and buy every cross platform games on pc. (having said that, GTA:V on the PS3, visually is more impressive to me then Crysis 3/Bioshock Inf..ect on my pc. So in time the better developers will get alot more from the newer consoles)

Well, there more actually. Texture crispness is better, colors are a bit more pronounced and the draw distance a tad bit better.

On the 360's side, the vegetation(ie..large palm trees) are more detailed and it's running a a bit higher(2-4 fps) higher, at times.

Both version's are shockingly stunning, and while the PS3 has the edge visually, is just by a tiny bit. It's nickpicking really, and only owners of both consoles will really care.

Also, the 360 version does have the better controller/able to play background music.

So it's why i'll be playing both version's for different reasons, and it's not like i'll be thinking 'wow! the ground textures look blurry, when driving 100mph in the 360 version. lol.

Personally, how can anyone take future Gamespot reviews seriously?

Heck, she could not even give a real in depth review, like many others have done.(ie IGN).

So far, i see no major faults in this game, to give it lower then a 10. (compared to GTA:IV where i seen it as a max of 8.0)

And the only reviewers giving GTA:V less then say a 95 or so, are doing so based on the're opinion of the storyline.

The bigger question to ask is 'Why did Gamespot choose this reviewer for this type of game'?

Please tell me as a society, we are not going to be these heights to be politically correct?

GTA:V is a man's game, so let a guy review it. Simple.

Can you imagine if GS chooses Caroyln to do the BF4 review? Or MGS V? Or COD? lol.

@suplax I'm not going to call her a 'joke', but rather she took her opinion of the story, to where any reviewer never should, to cloud her review of the entire game.

She gave that 2hr 'game' 'Gone home'?(something to that effect) a 9.5, because it was about a lesbian story.

I'm shocked Gamespot let her review GTA:V, as it just seems like that game does not fit the reviewer.

Also, the review was light on specifics not relating to the storyline, and as many gta fans fully know, gta is not only about the storyline.

I blame Gamespot for this, mostly.

Actually it looks better on the PS3, but the fps is a bit better on the 360, with both hitting as low as 20fps at times.

And i'm used to a lock 1080p/60fps in my pc games, including FC3 and Crysis 3.(<--maxed 1080p/60).

Having said that, my jaw dropped with what Rockstar has done with these aging consoles, as this game looks next-gen like, in so many aspects, from amazing lighting to even draw distance.

So while it took some time getting used to going back to 20-30fps, i could care less, as this game is one of the best ever developed, and i f'in love it :)

Rockstar just showed why it's more important to give yrs of develop time to max any platform, rather then brute force a game out(pc versions) or rush out the same engine..with little improvments(ie..COD series)
