@HowlPendragon 120 GB of Flash Memory (the Wii U uses flash, not magnetic disk) is REALLY FUCKING EXPENSIVE! So, unfortunately, that's not happening anytime soon.

@rIVAL_sWORD84 I'm with you on this. Given my experiences with launching systems, I'd have to say that a system's launch and its first title are NOT indicative of its success.

An example few remember properly is the DS versus the PSP: although the DS was hyped up, it had little in the way of launch clout, but, as its life went on, gained a ridiculous library of titles; the PSP had a much better launch with more impressive titles, but did not gain all that much past its launch. I know this because I owned both: the DS always had games to purchase, but the PSP didn't have much in the way of newer titles until the very end of its life.

Also, does anyone remember the first years of the Xbox 360, before it had competition as the generation began? Remember all those first-gen Xbox 360 titles like "Rumble Roses XX" and the ridiculous amounts of PS2 to 360 ports? Didn't think so.

You can't accurately predict the winner of a race at the starting line, so its probably best to hold off on the judgments until the end.

@SurlyPotato @darkteddi For me, the one reason to get a Wii U over the other 2 consoles is because of PC. After all, PC has never been stronger as a multiplatform gaming machine.

Though I'm not sure how well the Wii U will do in the market, I do know that my PC is more than enough for multiplats, and that my Wii U will be great for some more Smash Bros, virtual console, more Metroid (Metroid II REALLY could use a remake [maybe Retro]), more Zelda (loved Skyward Sword), and BAYONETTA 2!

@oslnpls But the problem is that with Smash Brothers, Wii U players will almost certainly be using a better controller than the 3DS control scheme (perhaps a modded Gamecube controller, or a Gamecube-style controller made for the Wii U to play Smash). Since almost no one on console would be expected to use anything less, it would create an unbalanced environment which would see 3DS owners losing almost unanimously.

Another thing, unlike the crossplay compatible games you mentioned, Smash Bros on 3DS, based on what I have seen (the graphic differences: cel-shaded 3D on 3DS and higher resolution textures without cel-shading on Wii U), suggests fundamental (likely engine based) differences in these games which would prevent compatibility.

@ohjtbehaaave The best thing that the HD remake of Wind Waker could do is fix the terrible Triforce collection quest, either by changing the dynamics concerning the acquisition of the pieces (making the collection of each individual piece an interesting endeavor as opposed to monotonous), or by increasing the dungeon count to accommodate the collection of Triforce pieces without extended sailing. Hopefully, they'll fix these issues like they fixed the Water Temple in the 3DS remaster of OoT.

@yavix My idea would be to investigate the consequences of Majora's Mask more deeply: namely, the transformation of the Hero of Time into a god-like being, and the possibility of Majora's Mask being combined with Ganon's power and physical body to create a living Majora (rather than a mask-based incarnation). In order to prevent an apocalypse within both time lines due to the newly reborn Majora's power, another Link will have to alter both timelines so that the power to destroy Majora (the Fierce Diety) will exist in both split timelines.

I know this is an insane idea (and also, incomplete), but who knows? Maybe this idea can be made to work.

@inthepastxx @MrOrbitz Sorry, but Sega isn't exactly the shining example of success you claim it to be. In fact, one could very well claim that dropping out of the console race has actually weakened it (look back to Sonic games on its consoles, then look at the ones currently produced). If anything, few people even recognize or talk about Sega anymore, whereas in the past (when they made consoles), they were acknowledged. So don't pull the "Nintendo should become a third party developer card", it's dumb. Clearly, Nintendo makes a lot of money as is, and I doubt they're going to drop out while in the phase of acquiring exclusives. If the exclusive acquisition of Bayonetta 2 is anything to go by, it would seem Nintendo is, in fact, stepping up its game through franchise acquisition. It seems doubtful that they are simply going to fade into the software development ether like Sega did, and that's probably for the best.

@craigprime Another point towards the Wii U's gamepad: it allows voice and video chat WITHOUT having to buy a headset or other device. Honestly, it seems that the more the Gamepad's functions are used, the more clearly the genius behind it becomes evident.

@desert_thief @Rat_King Good, as that was my only real problem with Brawl. For the most part, I actually preferred it, since, as long as no one chose Pit or Metaknight, it was relatively balanced. Whereas Melee was filled with shit-tier characters who, in many cases, were straight up clones, I haven't seen a single character in Brawl which could be considered completely terrible (they certainly fixed Bowser, and Ganondorf's attacks have more range and power), and most of the clone characters had a high enough level of diversity between them to evolve diverse play-styles and strategies (normal Link is a veritable projectile master, while Toon Link is better suited to close quarters play). I like both games, don't get me wrong, I have extensively played both, but I don't think making the next game more like Melee is necessarily the right answer.

Hopefully, this new Smash will be better balanced than both Brawl and Melee.
