@cartman: he didnt have a huge role in the movie. It was mostly a glorified cameo so him getting as much as someone like Diego Luna is almost overpaying him. He was good in the role though.

This is so freaking stupid. She isnt Iron MAN. She isn't a man, and it doesnt look like she even identifies as one if they want to go that controversial route. She could be Iron Girl, or even Iron Woman, but she isn't Iron Man. This is almost as dumb as Jane calling herself Thor (which is a name not mantle) while the actual Thor is still running around.

PS how is she going to have that hair and put a helmet on?

@m4a5: The problem seems like you are trying to force what you think are the version of the characters onto the screen instead of taking them for what they are. There are hundreds of different versions of these characters and different interpretations that are all just as valid as the rest. Same thing with Lex. ESPECIALLY with Lex. He REALLY didn't have the personality of the Joker. Sure he was eccentric, but he was a very damaged person. He had his own motivations and ideals. Lex doesn't have to be a super serious business tycoon who wants to capitalize on real estate, or a corrupted version of a humanist. Its fine to prefer these versions of the characters, but its a bit silly to completely dismiss other versions.

You do realize the extent of Lexs plan right? It wasnt simply "one or the other", Lex manipulated Batmans growing hatred for Superman into boiling over, he manipulated the public with acts of terrorism to get them to distrust Superman, and then he manipulated Superman into fighting Batman to the death. If he killed Batman he won, and if Batman killed him he won too.

@m4a5:

1.) Its part of CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. Not only character development, but SUBTLE character development. Batman has become a darker "crueler" Batman. He has upped the violence and the recklessness with thugs. This also applys to the convoy chase scene. He is killing because he has lost hope in humanity. By the end of the movie Superman has changed him through his actions. He states "Men are still good". We will see a less cruel Batman in the future.

2.) Really? The dream where a figure appeared in blinding light talking about the future wasn't clear about not JUST being a dream? The dreams were purposefully confusing I'll admit, but this is likely something else that will be helped by tighter editing and the directors cut.

3.) Lex was amazing when you understand what drives him. Its why the movie is even better the second time. You can see Lexs scenes in an entire new light.

4.) Finally, the movie is great for what it is. It is purposefully more subtle and grounded than other superhero movies. You dont get every single thing explained to you, and things arent wrapped up in a pretty little bow at the end. It is complicated, and a bit of a mess, but thats what life is like. I think thats what they were going for. Regardless I think you will enjoy it more seeing it a 2nd time in theaters, or at least the directors cut when its released.

@m4a5: its definitely not a perfect movie. It is great though. Especially if you go in accepting it for what it is, and not expecting a Marvel movie. It has some serious flaws (mostly in the editing department) and is very purposefully obtuse. Thats one reason its better the 2nd time you watch it since you can pick up on the subtext of scenes.

Anyway my point is that this scene if anything proves that it will be worth a second watch. Things that were put in the background will be given more clarity and greater depth. It will fix alot of the problems the movie has. I seriously doubt youve even seen the movie.

@zero_juice: Totally agree. The movie is even better a second time. You can see things that they were going for that wasnt necessarily put in the forefront. Like Lexs motivations for example. The movie had a lot of subtext that I think will be expanded on in the Ultimate Cut. It will fix alot of the problems people had with the movie.

@Metallicwolf29: yes, rottentomatoes is flawless. Let's watch a really good movie with NEARLY DOUBLE BvS score. The timeless classic Iron Man 2! A critical darling that is universally loved and regarded as a great movie!

@berserker66666: so? What does that have to do with anything? I know people who have already seen it, and they loved it. Fan reaction so far is mostly positive, but for whatever reason "critics" are having a hard time with it. I'll go with the words of actual people, not some jagoff on a website desperate for clicks.
