That's cool. I gotta pay 150 bucks for the repair, and i heard it takes 4 - 6 weeks for it to get back to u. Sucks. Modern Warfare 2 will have been out for a while by then.
The Philosopers is a group that was composed of the true leaders of the US, Russia, and China. The American Philosophers were exterminated some time in the 1970's and the Patriots were formed using the Philosophers Legacy (money of the Philosophers stolen by Ocelot in MPO). Now, the Patriots control America.
As for the other stuff. The Boss is a legendary War hero who trained Naked Snake. Naked Snake kills her and becomes Big Boss. In 1972, the Les Enfants Terribles project uses Big Boss's genes to create Solid Snake, Liquid Snake, and Solidus Snake.
