Aihhh the age old questions..

I'd say FF8 was great.. They are trying to make something new with every 3D final fantasies, with FF9 using the old school system of job thing.. 8 uses junction system, 7 uses materia system and 10 uses the sphere grid system. Due to my country's lack of online games, I can't play FF11, and 12 is the most flexible system i've played thus far..

So i'd say that every final fantasy has it's pros and cons. Then how can u compare this and that? I'm sorry if my opinion makes u mad or something, it's just that I've been playing Final Fantasies and I've beaten each of the game that i've played at least twice, and I still say that each FF has it's own nostalgic moment, it's own pros and cons.

There is no such thing as FF(insertnumber) is better than FF(insert number).  

Fatal Frame series is one of the game that scares me, I dunno why but RE didn't actually do the trick. Maybe I am more afraid of an asian ghost thing where there is always a white spectre rather than a gorish zombie thing...

The opening may feel quite boring/slow due to its gloomy enviroment, just stick with it. the fun doesent start till ya join up with yuna and the gang.hot114

That is so true! The start of the game was kinda boring... but the pace will eventually hasten once u'r on u'r first step towards pilgrims..

Do you know why everyone says they hate FF 9? Because there first game in the series was most likely FF7, and next was probally FF8. So they thing Final Fanatsy is about SOLDIER and seeD, high tech **** with uber advanced tehnology. Final Fantasy 9, in its purest form, was a grand tribute to Final Fantasy 1 through 5. If youve played these games, you would very well understand. 9 was Square's gift to its oldest and most loyal fans, letting them know that they hadn't forgotten their roots. 9 was a good game. My favorite, is 10, and second is 8. But 9 is still a good game. RainWest

YES RainWest! That's soo true.... Most ppl didn't play or even forget about FF1 till FF6... in FF9 they even have the reference to much older FF series (i.e Malirith etc)

Don't be lazy to LEVEL UP!!

because of it's sphere grid system, u can't actually determine how strong u'r character has to be in order to beat certain bosses.. other RPG has character level system, so u can determine what level u hafta achieve in order to beat a certain bosses..

Get haste, put EVERYONE into the fight, even if the character is useless. (a character who can't reach a flying fiend, put the character in and use "defend"), this will earn the character the EXP so that no one is too weak when u reach the later part of the game..

Again the best advise for any RPG is to level up. The best way is to level up when there is a save sphere nearby, and if u wanna do it my way, level up until u can kill the fiend in the current place with just one hit. :P

IMHO, all final fantasies has it's ups and downs...

I can't possibly compare FF with other FF titles, i'd say FFIX is a nice game to play.. it does has it's flaws, though... but i'd say it has more finer point to overshadow the flaws..

It has this funny, cute thing, rather than a more serious FFVIII and FFVII.. SquareSoft (now SquareEnix) tried to re-live back a more funny, positive thinking protagonist, much like locke from FFVI, after making a more enigmatic Cloud and an anti-social Squall.

If the amount of weapon is the key to a more better game, then I'd say Final Fantasy 12 beats ALL the game out there. You have tonnes of weapons PLUS you can equip anyone with anything, which means you can customize your character to meet your style of play...

Yet this is not the case, it's more than just the gameplay or the weapon, it's the responsive of the button mashing thing, i.e just like MGS 3, in which if u press the circle button too hard on the CQC session, you will instantly kill the captive. Just like GoW, you will kinda like 'feel' the pressure when u do the analog wiggling or circle mashing session.

But don't get me wrong. DMC is also one of the best game ever. ONE of the best game. I owned all of the games stated here. GoW, MGS series, DMC series etc.

Final word to this thread, there can be NO BEST GAME EVER. Why? Different people have different perspective on the word 'BEST GAME'. Some prefer horror series and hated Japanese RPG, etc.

So no fret. I think ALL of you guys opinions are true.
