@nikon133 there are tens of games which are not serious, have you been living under a rock? For example all of the games you've recounted as the ingredients of that mess of a game. All of them are more consistent and have a place, however that title is like Destiny - everything mixed together, with no taste or purpose.
People have bought Destiny because of the hype. People play Destiny, because it plays solid. Do people like the game? Maybe, but for all we know, they play it because of the buyers remorse or because it's their only game. I wish there was a graph of sales, so we could see once and for all, just how sustained Destiny sales are, because so far it looks like it sold well based on hype only and when it turned out to be a broken game, the sales probably slumped.
Hatred looks like an instant buy for me, finally a game that doesn't glorify violence and murders, doesn't hide from the fact that the player is always just a genocidal maniac, from someone's perspective.
So bad AI, bad story, but solid gameplay and a lot of visual flair, topped with grind for "unlockables" is bad for Destiny and OMGOMGOMG AWESOME for Bayonetta?
@loafofgame that's the point, if the game is good from technical standpoint, has good functional elements and delivers on it's promise, it's a good game. You can't be a professional reviewer and write a scathing review of Gone Girl, because it's not a bad movie objectively.
