OK Ladies... Quiet down, because a man has something to say...
My mother ran our house, growing up. There was NO misconception in ANYONE'S mind, in my house, who was to be respected and who was in charge. Women, as "docile & agreeable" as they can be, run things. Women have half the money, and ALL the *****, as they say, so really who is foolin' who, here? Though I enjoy Lara's looks, it's ultimately her power that I ended up admiring most in the character over the years...
Tell you what; I'll give up Lara when girls give up Beckham in his Jockey underwear... Start showing a guy the way we guys really are. It's an IDEAL. Should we fellas all take care of ourselves and be blessed with genetic strings like Mr. Beckham?
Certainly. Are we?
No.
Games are far from reality, and that's one of the things we are drawn to gaming by. Be something you aren't. If you don't "measure up" to Lara Croft, that doesn't mean you aren't sexy, desirable, respectable, and powerful in a man's eyes, any more than we dudes should feel when "measured" against Beckham's bulge. Or those pale vampire twits in "Twilight".
Who can live up to that kind of romantic twaddle? Really? So we boys have some bars to clear, ourselves. It's a two-way street. At least, that's the way I view the situation. No slam on this woman's project because it's clear she has some good points and I welcome her input to the on-going discussion, but if she really views women as being victims of an uncaring industry, she should spend a little time exploring women's roles in civilization. She might see that though men have always "been in charge", they're far from the seat of true power.
Behind every good man is a woman, KEEPING him that way.
Crytek will never get another dime out of me... Sorry, I haven't forgotten their idiocy a few weeks ago on the subject of used games. Crytek can live without my support from now on.
I'll play through it some day, but I'll be damned before I pay full price for this twaddle action crap-fest. I can see waiting years to play it, I honestly could care less about these "new" RE games.
Changing ANYTHING because a set of gamers become whining ****s on the Net is a joke, and if I were the iD Software people, I would put my foot down; **** the complainers! What the **** is the matter with people today, that they can't accept art for what it is, instead of what they DEMAND?
More and more, I can't stand the way the industry is catering to these complaining punks. I played "DOOM 3", and I LOVED it. Not being able to use the flashlight at the same time as your weapon was key to generating a fearful atmosphere. Changing that will in turn change the effectiveness of the game. `That would be like giving people in a haunted house the ability to see every scare coming - Dumb Dumb DUMB.
Shame on you, complainers. But MORE shame on YOU, developers.
PS - Nick Cage not having a job in film wouldn't be such a loss, Brendan.
Still looking forward to it, and a company which takes time to release something, with less bugs requiring fewer patches, is a company I can respect. Take your time, I'll still be here to buy it when it's FINISHED.
@DethSkematik Though it's a Move game, supposedly you can play it with a standard controller. I dunno, it looks kind of cool to play after properly relaxing, but the price is too high if the buzz only lasts 90min., in my book.
