And for those of you STILL beefing it, saying "no one is your daddy, you have your own mind, reviews don't matter" please, please tell me why you participate in a game REVIEWing website, surrounded by people who review games on their own?

nethernova

I don't care about the scores. Actually I think reviews shouldn't have them at all. I just want a more or less detailed description of the games and then I'll decide if I'm interested or not.

/agree. I actually think that more gamers would benefit from a "pros and cons" list instead of a number. Unfortunately there isn't a great way to do that. The number is a quick reference to the overall performance, and a "pros and cons" list would require more than a quick glance for a final "opinion". Overall, giving gamers a list of "why it's good" and "why it isn't good" would allow gamers to decide for themselves what kind of score it has, because something that is "bad" might not apply to everyone. For example, i found the camera to be a non-issue most of the time in too human. Does that make it a 5.5 still? Probably not, it might jump a point or so. Eliminating the number system would greatly increase user interpretation, instead of author interpretation. Granted a review is still opinion, so something that doesn't work for the reviewer might still be reflected heavily on the negative side, and at that point you will have to try the game for yourself to decide whether you like it...Thank the lord all mighty for demos!

I was unable to put my gamercard info in as well. I went through mygamercard.net (i believe that is the name), and it allows you to input it in your sig. They make all sorts of styles, including one that looks like the original gamercard.

There are tons of options, but I agree with Ivanelk. Halo 3 is a great game that will last for a long time. Most of my friends completely skipped over the campaign and went straight to online. I found the story to be good, but i was hoping for more. GOW is very fun, but after beating it the first time, I haven't gone back to play it. I have a hard time recommending games that I've only wanted to play through once (I'm thinking assassins creed is going to receive the same recommendation from me). To be honest I find that I go back and play games like "skate" and "halo 3" a lot more. I haven't played CoD4 yet, but i hear it's amazing, and will play it some day...Just got my 360 back and have to catch up on beating some of the games i've had for a couple years now!

When I first heard about this game I was really excited. So far it has not dissappointed me. The demo was awesome, but took some getting used to. In fact after the first time i played through the demo, I was convinced the game was a fail. The controls were awkward and the camera pissed me off (I did not know you could change it). After I played through, i decided to find out what everyone else thought about it. Surprisingly most of them had the same reaction that I did. Then they said, "play it again". So I gave it a second shot, and after knowing how the controls worked, it was a lot more fluid, and much more enjoyable. By the time I finished with the 2nd time through, I found myself thinking, wow! every hack and slash style game should have this combat system, it's so much easier, and actually makes sense. (I guess not everyone would agree with me on this). After playing through every character a few times through I find myself liking the game more and more. I am looking forward to dropping cash on this title, I even pre-ordered so I can get the cool armor.

As for the review score? I am thinking it will get about an 8, but it will certainly have a cult following. 500k copies wouldn't be bad, but i'm not sure that would be enough to fund the next title in the series. I actually think it will get closer to 1mil+ copies, just because of the publicity around the game. Because of the new style of gameplay gamers will buy it out of curiosity. The demo gives you an idea, but I can already tell there is more to the game than the demo lets us see.

The game looks awesome! I might just rent it instead of purchase it because I'm not sure what kind of replay value it will have. Either way i'm very excited for it!

Mine froze up after the update. No RROD though. I restarted the console with no controllers attached and that allowed it to boot up properly. Working great now...still not looking forward to the lame avatars though.

Does anyone know if the FF PSP is going to be available in the US? I've looked everywhere for news on this. Has this already been released in the US and i'm just behind on learning about it? I know EU just got their release of this model so I'm hoping for some news on a US release.

Does anyone see a reason that a decent MMO for the 360 does not exist? i've heard argument that a console MMO could very easily de-throne current leaders like World of Warcraft if not at least add to their numbers. I do agree that it's not likely, but it is possible. I am not quite sure why blizzard or other mmo developers are opposed to porting their money trees over to the 360. The 360 has the hard drive space (and if a user owns a console with a 20 gig drive they can simply upgrade). it has the raw horsepower (my pc runs wow just fine, and is arguably the same speed as my 360). All that the mmo developers would have to do is create a proprietary keyboard (that combines combo buttons for actions, like Ltrigger+y+x=action bar button 1, as well as giving you the standard, but not labeled, wasd for movement, and the mmo mouse) with that there would be many combinations and possibilities that are virtually endless.

communication was another argument, one that microsoft has already solved for us, first with a headset, as well as a keyboard for a game controller (that could easily be incorporated into a proprietary gaming keyboard).

Why would anyone want to pay xboxlive fees as well as monthly subscription fees? I'm not sure if i'm correct, but wouldn't it be easy for blizzard to have the xbox connect to a server they setup in their software? everyone gets a free silver account so they would be able to access unlockable content, etc... why not an outside server? If this isn't possible, i understand that paying for the 2 services sounds like an overcharge...but let's face it, most of us are already doing that. and if it ported over, maybe microsoft a would be willing to negotiate a deal to bring more users to the "live" service. if not, 50 dollars a year isn't going to break the bank, if it does...stop playing games and get a job.

Overall computer rigs are expensive, this is a great solution to the kids trying to get into the MMO universe, but unable to afford the necessary hardware to start out. a 360 is now cheap enough that mom and dad aren't going to complain, neither is the poor college student (who more than likely already owns a system). Especially when you compare them to a 500 dollar computer system (hardly a gaming machine) with a 100-300 dollar monitor.

So tell me...why aren't MMO's on consoles?

Edit: this of course excludes the attempts like phantasy star and Final Fantasy (which were good attempts, just not where they need to be yet). Also edited for continuity...which still may be absent in areas.

I want to know what types of devices you want to see made for the xbox 360. list them off!

Personally i want to see a mouse-like device (that way it's not a mouse, but for this platform), and a device that resembles a keyboard. something that would allow us to play (and compete)with the pc's that use the mouse and keyboard for rts games, and fps games. comments and/or ideas welcome!

I also think that whoever does this first will capture an entirely new market, and since microsoft is already making xbox live available to pc's they are in a prime position to do this. COME ON MICROSOFT MERGE THIS TECHNOLOGY!!!
