I just got a DS lite, And I have owned a PSP (for 2 years I got it for my BD). I have to say that the selection of games that the DS has is much better compared to the PS2 rejects that the PSP has been putting out. MGSPO was the only game that I beat on my PSP. And sence I bought my DS there are atleast 10+ games that are must have (like I would kill for) were as MGSPO was the only game that gave me that fealing when I had my PSP.

The game are what its all about. Just look at all the cool things the PSP can do that the DS can't, Like get online out of the box play music and video, store pic and other things.

But its the game the game I tell you. And that is why the DS has sold over 53 Million units (not shipped but sold) were as the PSP has"SOLD" just over 14 million and Sony has "SHIPPED" 25 million.

The DS is the king,Queen, and Presidentof portible gaming.

Actually, if you buy it, there is a device that lets you play mp3's on the DS. There's also a homebrew up at that lets you store pics on a cartridge and has a built in pic veiewer and stuff. That's one thing I really love about DS...the homebrew options are endless.

FF VIII, FF IX, Secret of Mana, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Oh....and I'd open a vein for Ocarina of Time & Sim City (SNES) on DS.

this game seems to be very VERY popular on the nintendo ds and i never thought id be saying this but i might actually try this game. I was just wondering if i will still like it even though i dont follow or watch pokemon anymore. Also i have no idea of any pokemon above the normal 150 of the blue and red version.MegamanXL

While I like the Pokemon movie when I was younger, and glanced at my brothers cards now and then, I've never been a big Pokemon fan. That is, until I played Pearl. I was sucked right into it and there were no problems learning to play at all. It is, now, the game I have the most hours in on my DS, save for possibly Animal Crossing.

I'm a 20 y/o woman, so...that should say something, heheh.

It's not so simple to change the language on a game, hon. It does take awhile. For example, FFIV's remake is expected to release over here sometime in Q1 of 2008, and it just came out, so that's a pretty quick turn around. IMO they're working as fast as they can.

First you have to give someone all the text to translate, then you have to figure out a way to keep the translation from sounding absurd (because Japanese grammar is totally different than ours, and we don't have words for some of the words they use), and then you have to program the translation into the game. Plus they have to deal with manufacturing and getting things shipped to America/Europe, deal with different box art that will appeal to us, etc.

All in all, it is a lot of work, and a few months wait isn't that terrible in comprison to how long we've already waited.

Yep. If my DS isn't with me, there's something wrong (IE: I was probably kidnapped).

I would like to see enhanced multiplayer. Don't get me wrong, 140 hours out of the 180 on my Pearl cartridge were spent breeding & trading Pokemon, and I love the WiFi features....but I hate that other than that, over WiFi you can only really battle. What about some kind of Co-Op player?

I would like to see the battle system a bit sped up. The slowness is a bit irritating.

And, this isn't really a big deal, but....I would love to be able to customize our trainers a bit. I've heard arguments saying it can't be done and that's a load. If you can DRAW your character in Drawn To Life, they could put in options to pick hair color, skin color, maybe some different clothes, etc.

So, yeah...no big complaints here, really. All in all, Pokemon D&P were amazing in my opinion.

Uh, no way. I don't leave home without my DS and I play it more than I do my PC or my broter's Wii (which resides at my house). There are so many games, and so many TYPES of games, that there is always something different and fun for me to play. I seriously don't see how the system is overrated at all. It has an innovative design that hads a whole new element to game play in general, but especially to handheld gaming.

Looking through my younger brother's stash as well as my own (I'm a girl, by the way, just quite a bit older than your daughter):

Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales (Cute, fun, and not hard for younger ones. Also, it uses variations of old fairy tales, which is really cool for kids, in my opinion. It is one of my all itme favorite games).

Animal Crossing: Wild World

Nintendogs, Kirby: Canvas Curse

Kirby: Squeek Squad

Pokemon: Diamond/Pearl

Cooking Mama 1 or 2

MarioKart

Tetris DS

Bomberman

Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time

Big Brain Academy (Not as complicated as Brain Age, and more fun orientated. It might be a little bit better for a child).

That should get her started, hehe.
